Career opportunity

True story.....first time I ever went out west, flew into Phoenix. Got there 7 or 8pm. 108 degrees. Definite culture shock. Could not believe it could be that hot. But hey, it's a dry heat they say.

When at Fort Huachuca I remember my neck actually feeling like it was baking but I was not uncomfortable due to the absence of humidity. (I liked the weather but, no ocean....)

I hate kids, never want them. Don’t associate much with my nieces/nephew either. Just not for me in any capacity

I’m 6’5, 213lbs lift and run daily and eat mostly meat. I keep in good shape and never plan to change that. And my family doesn’t have a history of male pattern baldness lol. Bring on them Latinas!
To each his own. Can't imagine my life without my wife and kids.

It was so hot when I walked out I thought I was under one of those huge A/C units for big buildings that was blowing hot air on me. Seriously did. The heat was so suffocating at first.

First time I went to Phoenix, it was 115 and had fairly high humidity for them. A rare storm was rolling in lol. Still loved it

I took a long weekend in Phoenix once. Just once but that was. In the mid 1980's. (Barely left the hotel room.) 😏

Sorry I'm late to this thread, I'm still waiting for my first paid tile-job. Below is some of my best work. DM me once my interview time is set up.

Phoenix. Been wanting to go there since I left New Mexico in 2014. Covid screwed my plans up to leave in 2020 but I’m even more ready now. Tampa was my #2. Maybe I’ll stay in Phoenix a year then go to tampa

I’m not a long term commitment kinda guy lol.
Good luck on your move

What part of Phoenix? I used to travel to Tempe a couple times a year for work. Really beautiful out there, but I only traveled in March and October.

Not 100% yet but probably north Phoenix. I do have family in Gilbert, nice over there in the east valley too.

Never want either. I’d like to have a long term partner but I wouldn’t get married, don’t think it’s worth the risk for men. Kids would take my freedom
My Kids are grown in their 20s and doing well thankfully. Never really considered not marrying or having kids.

Everybody does what is best for them. Sincerely hope the best for you on your move. I love it out west.

If I could pick a spot out west, I loved Flagstaff. Different seasons, beautiful scenery.

We were in Phoenix in the 90s. Away from AC, all I could think was "I'm going to DIE." At 115 there is no solace in low humidity. And due to the irrigation fields along the Gila River and east of Scottsdale, Phoenix humidity is higher than you'd think.

The first full day we were there we went to a late movie. When we got out, the streets were swarming with people doing outdoor work. Road work, roofing, etc. It was maybe 98 and that was cool for Phoenix. The smell of hot tar at 11 PM is something that sticks with you.

There’s stuff I wanna do out west. Lot of hiking, rafting, etc that I want to do before I come back east. Phoenix will be a hub for me for that. I could see myself staying realistically for 3-5 years out there then coming back and settling down in the Clearwater area. Sarasota would be even nicer and there’s a career opportunity there I’ve always wanted to do. But while I’m youngish (32), I need to get some physical goals done
@drew_ukfan , I'm happy to read that you're willing to take the chance and move while you can. That's how life should be lived. I tip my hat to you, sir.

Glad we're all different. Would't want to live a second without kids now that I have them. We've (wife and 2 kids) have been to all 50 states, just went to Alaska last September, no idea why you would think kids take freedom. My kids help give me freedom, they help do a lot of work and take pressure off me and give me more freedom. Good luck with your move, we've not been in Phoenix but was all over Flagstaff and Williams area a few times.

I love Tampa and Clearwater Beach. Phoenix a little too hot for me. Good luck with your travels.
When I was in 8th we went to Clearwater and there was no beach. They were building it and had almost got to where we was hoping they could make it. They did as we were leaving.

Sometimes you get paid in other ways, besides money.

Not to bust your balls too much on this but this is what every boss ever says. The truth is the best way to get paid is to get paid. Or do we get tax breaks for your other more ambiguous form of payment?

Enjoy Arizona... I've been a couple times and was a state on my relocation list if I ever got a job opportunity.

New Orleans is miserable hot in the summer. Wife and I were out there years ago during the week of July 4th. The temperature never got below 90 and the humidity below 95% the entire time we were there; night and day.

Back in the days of USENET, I got detailed information from someone from New Orleans about what to do on a visit there. He went on in great deal and stressed, "Don't park your car on the street. It will melt."

And it would have.

I work for large Tile and Terrazzo company. We do very large jobs. Churchill Downs, UofL facilities, all of them. Im doing the DEA building right now. Getting ready to start Derby City gaming casino right here in Louisville. Floors, walls, showers anything you can imagine. All commercial work. I'm a Forman for the company and we need some good people willing to show up and wanting to learn. All benefits you can think of. Paid vacation and all. Career opportunity with good pay. If you or anyone you feel is up for a career type situation PM me. Come as you are we hire most because the nature of the business. Thank you. Serious response please.
Did your company do the airport?

We just started a phase there a few days ago actually. There are a few companies that do work up there. I think we may take over the whole thing. They have had some quality issues.
Good on you for offering the chance to people here. If I lived closer (i'm in south central KY) I would at least try it. And I'm not a 20-30 year old man. However, I do take pride in my work and have never been afraid of a drug screen (if they even still give those) . Also, not afraid of being well compensated. LOL

My future son in law may be a good fit for you. He does general construction now but previously did granite and tile work for about 4 years. He’s shown me pictures of some of his work and you could see the pride and satisfaction he got showing me the quality of a finished job.
