So the Big 12 is on the verge of collapse, but I was thinking...some schools may want to leave for say the Big Ten or ACC, but they're selective and not many spots...so lets play dream conference. Some of those teams will be fighting to get in conferences that have an established order and there would be no real geographic fit or any real rivalries. (Rutgers & Maryland Big Ten, Mizzou in the SEC). A new bigger Big 12 with Group of 5 teams could be better overall. Texas cares more about football than the Northeast or West Coast. A conference with solid programs in more football friendly areas.

You have 8 Big 12 schools remaining, now lets say you add the 6-8 next best G5 programs and see where it goes?

-Big 12 (8): Ok State, Baylor, WVU, Iowa State, TCU, Kansas, K-State, Texas Tech
-Additions? (9): Cincy, Houston, Memphis, Boise State, UCF, BYU, Colorado State, USF, SMU
(You don't have to add all 9)

If you think about it...they would lack a true top team...but top to bottom the quality looks better than the ACC & Pac 12...look at some of the programs involved...All good programs. Has some rivalries retained. Great fanbases and schools that do put money into football. In big cities that will watch. Geographically diverse, but teams are close enough to each other...big recruiting map.

I mean after the SEC & Big Ten, that's a conference that could easily make a case that it could be #3 in some years. Now there isn't 1 big brand, but the value of their rights would be a lot of good games every week. Would give a lot of those programs a chance to be the man nationally. I'd rather watch a lot of those games than say Syracuse/Boston College or Georgia Tech/Wake Forrest. Oh, and it'd be great in basketball too.

-UCF: 3 BCS/NY6 Bowls in the last decade.
-Baylor: 3 BCS/NY6 Bowls in the last decade. Heisman winner.
-TCU: 3 BCS/NY6 Bowls since 2010.
-Boise: 3 BCS/NY6 Bowls since 2007.
-Cincy: 3 BCS/NY6 Bowls since 2009.
-WVU: 3 BCS Bowl games since 2005.
-K-State: 2 BCS/NY6 Bowls since 2004 and 2 Big 12 Titles
-OK State: 2 BCS/NY6 Bowls in the last decade. A Big 12 title and #3 ranked finish.
-Kansas: 2008 Orange Bowl Champs
-Houston: NY6 Bowl game in 2015
-Iowa State: Defending Fiesta Bowl Champs and Playoff Contender
-Memphis: Made a NY6 Bowl game in 2019
-Even thinking about Texas Tech & BYU..both have been great.
-USF in Florida. Colorado State has been a top program. SMU has some donors and fans..
