got caught up believing their press clippings and comparisons to Bear Bryant and Brett Favre, and they lost their edge and focus on game prep and execution.

We are in a different world from our UF victory in the swamp.
  • After UF, we feasted on FCS Youngstown underperformed in a win over No Illinois, but did not improve in any facet of the game.
  • We used CRod only sparingly in his first two games back against Ole Miss and USC, and we lost not only the games but also our season momentum and confidence.
  • We played our best game of the season against MSU and then failed to show up at Tennessee even after a bye week.
  • We got by Missouri on our freaky special teams miscue that actually worked out and allowed us to salt the game away.
  • We lost to Vandy and we helped them snap a SEC losing streak going all the way back to 2019. We looked listless against Vanderbilt today. Three-win (now 4 win) VU played with more heart, and the best we could do is trash talk.
  • Persistent problems:
    • Our QBs pocket presence (when he has had a pocket) has not improved, in fact he has regressed with injuries.
    • Our OL didn't materialize at all this season. Shaky run blocking ,and when we pass, our QB is getting hit more than expansion QBs in the NFL.
    • Despite OL difficulties, we kept trying to pound a round peg in a square hole with our blocking schemes and insisting our QB remain in the pocket that our OL cannot provide. Levis would have been better off and we would have been better off with a QB run infused offense. As it stands, defenses are hitting like a freight train while he remains stationary and practically defenseless.
    • Every team we play thinks they can get to our QB in the backfield on every single passing play.
    • Special Teams are completely unreliable.
    • D has been decent at times.
  • We're not an improved FB team; rather, the team lacks fundamentals and discipline.
  • I want to see no more threads about moving the UF game to November for a cold weather advantage....with very few recent exceptions, we are a bad November team.
UGA will beat us handily, but Kirby is not a RUTS coach (like Spurrier). Coach Smart goes to the run game with a lead and depresses the final margin of victory. As such, we may keep the final score within 4 or 5 touchdowns. Best case scenario is a 3-TD loss.

Unless we find some football fire in our FB team, U-of-L may run us out of our own stadium for a 6-6 final record after a 4-0 start.

In the words of Goose: "This is not good Mav."

I think the D has been GREAT at times in spite of playing backups at DB and LB. I think you have a lot of valid points. On field discipline is clearly a problem and something that is consistently an issue going back 10 years. That comes from the HC or it doesn't.

Yep and we schemed him into being a pocket QB without providing a pocket. Certainly he could throw away the ball more, but even if he had, he still would have taken a beating either way.

GBB!

He has said he has called the wrong protections and done the wrong things several times this year. If he makes the right calls and reads, and gets rid of the ball quicker, I don't think he'd have taken three fourths of the beating that he's taken. Not allowing him to tuck and run as much this season may have made his punishment much worse

D was horrible today. We knew the QB but we didn’t do our jobs as players and Coaches
Weaver gives up 59 yd TD because he wanted to be a hero
Valentine acts a fool and tried to jump routes and gets beat on the same slant he was beat on all day. Brad White was pathetic playing man against a running QB with questionable arm and not having a spy all day on him
Why was #31 put in late in games - had he played all year
Needed a timeout there to think that one over

You have made a lot of good points.
The biggest problem may be that we are a team that was over-hyped and both fans and players bought into it.

#31 is Max Hairston and he's played all year. He was in the game in that situation because Valentine was shaken up the previous play. That play was a prayer, thrown up hoping they could complete it....and they did. Hairston let the guy get behind him, a Cardinal Sin.

Somehow, someway Stoops has lost this team. They're a mistake waiting to happen. Don't think I've ever seen a program disintegrate as quickly as this one. What Stoops built the last 5 years has been destroyed the last 5 weeks and is in shambles, a pile of rubble laying at his feet. The rebuild may be too big for him.

The offensive line sucked before Florida, during Florida, and after.
I don't think anyone got cocky.
We just didn't improve, got injured, and aren't equipped at coordinator to fix it.

As Levis said himself at this point in season I’d say almost all players are banged up

it’s not an excuse for the coaching staff- good coaches adjust.
That’s fair and don’t disagree with that assessment. I do think the injury has affected Levis’ production though.

If Levis is truly injured, I’d rather him sit. The whole no running thing is severely hampering our offense especially with a weak OL.

Levis is hurt.
I want to actually smash something every time I hear this BS .. even the announcers talking about some sort of " awkward " something as he runs perfectly normal on what was nearly his only scramble yesterday . DUDE RAN PERFECTLY NORMAL .. Its not his _______ing toe !!!!! Its his mind , he's shell shocked in a bad offensive scheme that is so entirely predictable its getting him in spots to get killed . Terrible coaching has ruined the poor guy .

The team was not overhyped!!! You have 6 or 7 NFL caliber players on offense and another 5 or 6 on defense. The talent is there. Poor Coaching Starting with Coach Stoops, a terrible awful OC and no special teams Coach to speak of. The scheme on offense as some other posters stated was trying to fit a round peg in a square hole. The game planning for the most part has been atrocious. The O line is bad that's why the type of offense(Scheme) matters so much. Unfortunately Coach Stoops whiffed on the OC Coach and for whatever reason will not hire a dedicated special teams coach.
