"Hate this mentality. Your assumption is because I can be objective about Trump that we must make some kind of moral equivalency -- which is quite frankly ridiculous.
I'll ask again. Imagine ANYONE, your most hated Democrat (not sure what party they belong to is relevant) cheated on their wife with a porn star and then engaged in financial fraud to hide it, do you think they represent Christian values?
Caveman is one of the most outspoken evangelicals on this board, but he can't answer how he reconciles a clear deviation from the exact things he preaches. Is Trump a Christian role model?
I'll hang up and listen."
I'm gonna start with the last sentence in this complete nonsense. If the poster had listened, they would have responded. That's what it is to "listen" when engaged in discussion. It requires response. Refuse to answer questions, then ask them yourself and it just clarifies you're a troll with nothing to offer.
Might as well be driving a hoopty and whistling at a hot lawyer walking into a 5 star hotel.
Trying to explain being a person of faith living in a world dominated by and grounded in sin to a liberal, is like trying to reason with a drunk person about it being illegal to pee on a public street. There's no point. To those that do actually have their wits about them and really want to know, here's a little illustration/story....
If someone wants to know how a person of faith can vote for a candidate without the same morals, try thinking about this with a little bit of common sense and a little bit of Sci fi/fantasy type thinking so it might be a little easier.
Your best friend came here from another planet. Everything on this planet causes you an allergic reaction. You have to wear a suit that processes everything with which you interact, changing what it can into something your body can use and not cause you to die. Most people are annoyed at how little you can eat or drink, or just think you're nuts for being so picky. Even the liberal nuts that want "paper straws" think you're "weird" and are afraid you're contagious.
In spite of the fact that you feel isolated and alone in the planet in both who you are and how you live, you value the lives of everyone with whom you come in contact. You know what the things they're consuming and touching can do to you, but you also know they are harming them as humans, because that is why your species left the planet long ago. You hope you can be a good example and help change things for the better.
You also know... you have to eat... they have to eat... and you want them to be able to do that with the healthiest spirit and body possible, even while educating them about the dangers they face. You have to not only still eat the things presented to you, but you also don't get much say in who processes the raw materials, who prepares the food, who brings it to you. None of that is controlled by you. You can't even cook it yourself since it nauseates you.
You know it's all that most people have, and they are more stable when they can readily eat and be satisfied than if they are physically starving. So you eat with them and hope that somehow you can reason with them at some point.
An election year comes and neither candidate cares about the food or air quality of the planet, they both eat poorly and seem very self-absorbed 24/7. What's the difference between the 2 candidates? They both cheated on their spouses. One lied every day for 50 years. One lied about lying. One told a story about his dad being eaten by cannibals. One extorted a foreign country. One stole documents they weren't legally allowed to possess.
Which one do you as an alien vote for?
You vote for the one that most allows for people to live lives as free of fear as possible so that there is hope of being able to reason with them, to share a meal, and to not be afraid (including being afraid it will be the last meal).
When you eat a meal, it doesn't mean that in doing so you approve of everything the cook has ever done or will do. It also shouldn't have to be explained to someone old enough to type in complete sentences.
