Zone Defense

Is it me or is it so, so odd seeing zone defense from Cal. I'm assuming the reason is because this team cannot guard man to man? I was yelling at the TV for them to go back to man after a couple baskets......first play they go to man Tam scores on simple pick and roll....I was then screaming to get back in the zone. I just hate the wide open threes the zone seems to give.

Are we just going to see mostly zone the rest of the year?

I think the last two games it’s been done by necessity more than anything.

Injuries and foul trouble. We had to keep guys on the court somehow.

I don’t think he intended on playing this way but the situation has dictated it.

When we get to full strength I don’t think we see anything like this.

I assumed if was because we were playing all night with 1 guard. I'm sure Cal wants to run away from this, but is doing it out of necessity right now.

The zone was definitely to give SGA rest........ If we had played man 2 man.... SGA couldnt of made it and we'd of lost for sure without a PG. Even playing zone where he didnt have to move as much, SGA said the last 5 minutes his legs felt like noodles.
