Wizards open to trading John Wall

I really hope he gets moved to a team that has a chance to win now.

Only a handful of teams have a legit shot this year. Warriors, Celtics, Sixers, Raptors, and maybe one other team from the West if they upset the Warriors.

Send him to the Lakers for Lonzo and a few picks. Then go get AD in the offseason.

Or send him to Pels for Holiday and a pick. Would entice AD to stay in NO, then go get another free agent in offseason. Wall, AD, Randle.

Wall has the most untradeable contract in the NBA. Washington may want to move him, and he may want to go, but they are stuck with each other.

Salary cap is going up. His contract won't look so bad going forward.

I think the Wizards have some nice pieces. Their frontcourt is pretty terrible, that's been their problem as of late.

I wouldn't bother trading Wall with his contract. Move a guy like Beal or Otto Porter, either would be a tremendous asset for a lot of other teams. They need a young, hungry post player with potential. A guy like Julius Randle.

Wall has a monster contract and a PER of under 20. His play currently doesn't justify his pay. Most teams will avoid Wall. Beal is the more attractive player to get if you are a GM. Beal is also only 25 years old with a jumpshot to his game.

I would like to see wall surrounded by actual talent. I think you put him on the Pelicans you see that per skyrocket

Wall just cannot hit the three and still, just like in college, turns it over so much. He is a great defender but the game today is not one a guard like him excels like before. There are just no other scorers on that team and never have been besides Wall and Beal and Wall is just not the type of scoring guard you want right now, or at least as your 1st or 2nd option.

Now Beal should have HUGE trade value. He is the exact player the NBA loves right now, decent size, ball handling, solid Defense and a way above 3 point shooter. He is a notch below a Klay Thompson and not all that much below. Beal would immediately put a fringe contender missing shooting into contention, Bucks, San Antonio, or a team like Houston looking for a boost to hit even more threes (likely don't have the assets).

Best beat for the Wizard's is to get players that have better chemistry around Wall, as it seems like Beal and Wall never see eye to eye and Wall is a PG that scorers should want to play with.

has he even ever played with a true offensive post player or a real pick and pop threat? talk about opening up the driving lane.

This. Washington is too big for Wall and Beal, whom I've always thought was overrated. He has incredible job security, guaranteed 25 shots per game, and John freaking Wall getting him the ball. Trade him while his value is high. Wizards need to trade him for a scoring big, then try to get a defensive minded 2-guard and a three point specialist to play in a triangle.

Pels would benefit wall due to pace. Pick n rolls w Davis would carve teams up. Wall' s lack of 3pt shooting is a huge negative...but one can imagine how dominant AD n Wall would be, bout a 0.01% happening though. Like Wall, Porter's contract is a whopper too...Beal is the most likely gone. 25 yo 3pt shooter and no exorbitant contract

Decent point except Wall's PER is clearly higher than any of the rotational players on the Wizards. The problem with the Wizards is that they invested crazy money on Otto Porter, Oubre, Morris and Jeff Green and none of these dudes has a PER above 14, couple that with the misnomer that Brad Beal is an elite marksman (34% to 33% for Wall). Just because you have a beautiful jumper, doesn't make you an elite shooter. Beal has never really been much of a defensive player and has a very low AST/TO ratio for a guy who handles the ball as much as he does. Add in the fact that they have no true low post scoring and that Wall has evidently become a locker room bully, this team is doomed. Scott Brooks experience with Westbrook in OKC should tell you all you need to know about his coaching ability. He should have been fired last year.

An anonymous Wizards player on John Wall:
"We love Scott Brooks. Love playing for him. He just can't coach John. John just walks all over everybody and it's frustrates everybody. The way he plays is impossible to play with. We have so many guns, not enough bullets."

Wall has absolutely earned the right to walk all over every Wizard that has been on his team since he was drafted. He's been an unquestionable top 20 player and top 4-5 PG for years. You acquiesce to Wall, Wall doesn't acquiesce to you.

I love John wall and I used to hate holiday. Not now though. He’s playing great and I wouldn’t trade holiday for anything right now.

1) Lakers would not make that trade.
2) Pelicans would not make that trade.
3) Just "go get AD in the offseason" says that you don't understand why those are terrible trade ideas.

15% trade kicker equals big dollars added to any deal.

Trade kickers get paid by the team trading the player, so the Wizards would have to either pay that bonus or get Wall to waive it.

Yup.

Agreed, but Porter is on a huge contract for his production (and even his potential... he's a third banana at best on a 4 year/$106.5m contract). He might be enticing to a team that misses out (or thinks that it will miss out) on free agents after this season when a lot of teams have money, but I doubt it. Supposedly the Pelicans are interested in Porter, but they'd have to send back ~ $20m in contracts.

So Wall can do whatever he wants, best interests of the team be damned? I'm very pro-player and even I think that's an asinine view.

{ personally think Eric Bledsoe has turned out to be a better overall pro than John Wall.....Bledsoe is a lot better shooter and team player...IMHO

I love Bledsoe but he has not been better than Wall at all . Bledsoe was embarrassed last year in the playoffs against Rozier.

Wall has had a lot of great playoff series

Wall has never worked on the weaknesses he has. He is the same player basically as when he entered the league. Which is good, but not good enough to build a franchise around. His contract is untradeable. They're stuck with him and he with them. The Wizards are headed for a dark place I'm afraid.
