With this being the 20th anniversary of the 1996 champs, you're favorite memory of them.

Being all over Tim Duncan like a glove.

I loved how relaxed I was going into every game knowing that not only were we going to win, we were usually going to annihilate the opponent. Any margin less than 25 was a surprise.

Winning the title. I was born in 81 so it was the first one in my lifetime and I was old enough to really understand how big it was.

Another fond memory from that season was, one of our Saturday games (I don't remember the opponent) we were blowing the other team out and there was a blizzard in full effect. Nothing like getting snowed in while the cats are lighting up the nets.

Haha you could've stopped at the bolded part in your first paragraph! (just messing with ya...)

As for the second part, I agree. I don't recall which game that was, but there really is something awesome about being snowed in and getting to watch a Cats game knowing you can stay up late and soak it all in, read the boards, watch the highlights, etc. Good times.

Yes, I believe pitino would of won several more titles had he stayed at UK, he was on a role like cal is now, that 97 championship game was rough, I was just a little kid and remember the bibby and Simon back court for Arizona was awesome...but UK would of beat them if not for injuries, which I feel has cost us several championships...

DA was ready to play in that game..What was crazy is he was going full out in practice and was said to be the best player in practice, but Pitino didnt play him..made no sense and cost us a title

Easily the LSU game. I have never seen a P5 team dismantled like that. It was brutal. Utter domination in every way. I'll probably never see another beating like that in my lifetime. It was epic. 86 points in the first half. They could have scored 150 if they felt like it that night. Toine had 28 in the first half. Unreal.
Not only did 'Toine have 28, he had 8 dunks. Pretty sure his shooting line at halftime was 14-16 from the field, 28 pts, no FT's. And, like I said, 8 dunks.

What Pitino's teams did to Dale Brown's was just cruel and unusual punishment. LSU had big home wins over UK in 91 and 92, but from that point on, the scores of the games were:

105-67
82-65 (SEC Title game in 93)
99-95 (but of course, that was the comeback from 31 points down)
127-80
129-97 (86-42 at the half)
84-48

Some coaches seemed to be good at attacking Pitino's press. The Dean Smith guys seemed to excel at it- Dean himself, Roy Williams, and Eddie Fogler. Dale Brown was clearly not one of those. His teams usually looked completely clueless about how to handle pressure, and totally out of control.

--We only saw about 10 minutes of the LSU first half because some sorry-ass Big 10 game ran over.

--The Ole Miss game was played with a foot or so of snow on the ground. RP told the team nobody would show up, but there were 21,000 or so in attendance.

--Seems like Pope and Sheppard had a sledding incident which resulted in one of them spraining an ankle. Sheppard, IIRC.
