Williams top rated defender

He's been great for the most part. Not sure what happened against WKU as he had a pretty off game there. Really poor first half but better in the second half. The good news is we have other options if he is off in a given game, either Garrison or Carr at the 5 (still want to see more of this).

Wow, that's impressive. I think those statistics kept by Evan Miyakawa are highly thought of in CBB. I know you can't have everything, as they say. But what if Williams could find some semblance of touch around the basket and maybe more at the free throw line? Then again, if that were the case maybe he isn't playing CBB this season for UK.

But I thought somebody in another thread said he wasn't as good as advertised. Whoops.
that was me..........I'll fess up
I guess I was just expecting someone to gobble up rebounds like Oscar and block shots in the same manner - maybe a modern day Olajuwon
He played pretty well against Duke, but the others I didn't think so.

Williams is great as long as he doesn't try and shoot the ball. It's like he throws the ball at the backboard and just expects it to bounce in. Slam it or pass it. No more rock skipping.

This. Hes elite at every aspect except ball handling and scoring. Yet those two things seem to be on his mind way too often.

If he just had a respectable 12-15 foot jumper we'd be unstoppable on O.

i will say that if he were everything you were expecting then he would not be at UK, he would be in the NBA

Williams’ big issue is that he can be a bit of a black hole on offense. Against defenses with a modicum of ability, Duke and Western, he struggled. I think he presses and feels forced to make plays a bit out of his wheelhouse which leads to some turnovers and bad shots. I think he had 6 turnovers against Western.

If he can improve his decision making and reduce that turnover rate, he can take his play to an elite level.

People, anslysts, opposing fans and the like keep saying UK is close to their ceiling, but I disagree.
If Williams learns how to play with his back to the basket, he becomes a massive weapon for us. That would make UK a complete team.

Somewhere between NPOY and top 15 all time NBA player. Kind of in that zone, ya know?
