Will we beat #1 Kansas without 1 of our 3 seven footers?

They have very little outside shooting. I swear, I don’t see what everyone sees in this KU team. IMHO, one of the most overrated teams in awhile.
I don’t think they are going to be bad or anything, and it won't suprise me to see us lose to them early in the year being that we are short-handed. However, I do think we have far more upside and should be able to take them to the wire at worst. It certainly should not be a blowout or anything. HD is vastly overrated.

Hate to say it but Z won’t save us. He’s not gonna be ready to go by then. He will be lost IMO.
Totally agree. And, I’m higher on him than most seem to be. But, it’ll be a cpl weeks minimum, if/after they return, before any of the bigs will really make a difference. The best we can hope for is that they come back before SEC play starts bc after a certain point they’ll be more likely to disrupt chemistry than they will to improve anything. Can’t just throw them into the rotation late in the season & expect a seamless transition. Either way, I’m beyond sick of the roster uncertainty year after year.

HD will have a huge game against us. Mark it down. We have no one that matches up against him. Mitchell needs to have a big game shooting the 3 to counter HD. If we can spread the floor with our shooting we might have a chance, but I think KU beats us. Self has been the better coach in recent years. I think he wins this chess match.
I agree with everything you said. But, at the same time, Mitchell presents a huge mismatch for HD, as well. He will be pulled outside, defensively, & forced to chase Mitchell around the perimeter. And, IMO, he’ll have a hard time keeping Mitchell in front of him on drives to the basket, too.

It could be a long night for him in that aspect, either getting fatigued or languishing in foul trouble, unless KU goes zone all game. But, like you said, if we are hitting 3s & able to spread the floor, they’ll be forced to abandon the zone & go M2M, leaving HD on an island. If we shoot it well, we have a good chance, IMO. But, if the shots aren’t falling I think it’ll be a LONG night.

They will win the big 12 again and go 25-6 and be a one seed, they may be a little overrated but they are still loaded and really good

I agree with you. But I also think that if a coach had a team like that, the very best thing he could do would be to hypnotize the opposing coach and make that guy refuse to play zone, refuse to even play garbage zone for even a moment, to keep him from taking advantage of that lack of outside shooting.

And then if the game was early in the season and that opposing coach had a whole lot of new players on his roster, especially young ones, the other thing to do would be to hypnotize him to make him instead play some kind of very complicated switching man-to-man defense that his kids could never learn in time for the game in question. So they’d be blowing assignments and running into each other left and right. Then the thing to do would be just ram the ball down their throats especially if you had a really mobile big who could run the floor really well and if you also had a size advantage.

I know that could never happen in the real world. I’m just saying; if you really could control other people’s thoughts at will and you really wanted to make an opposing beat himself instead of punishing you for not having any outside shooting. That’d be a perfect way to do it.

Kansas is not unbeatable. They lost this summer in exhibition play, they also lost against Illinois last weekend. This week they struggled against a D2 opponent and were out scored in the second half. Not sure why everyone thinks they’re the best college team in the history of the sport.

They are low one high 2 seed, self takes teams like this and wins the big 12 handily,
Who’s gonna score for this team? Their PG is definitely not a scorer or shooter. Their SF isn’t a scorer or shooter. Only backcourt guy that could possibly be a good scorer and shooter is that freshman. Then they have a big that will get eaten alive in P&R.

I think that the matchups down low favor Kansas right now. It is a shame we are dealing yet again with lineup uncertainty early. We may take some lumps getting everyone back and playing (hoping for the best).

If Reeves goes crazy from 3, and the guards have a hot shooting night anything is possible. We have to be committed to playing fast and spreading the court out.

Dickinson is 20 points per game, Timberlake will start hitting shots, the freshman Jackson will probably step up, McCullers will get them 10-12 every game, the pg isn’t a scorer but can get you some every now and then, Adams is a energy guy, but how many times since 2010 has self had a bad team? The answer is none, his worst seed is a 4 seed. They will be good, they always are

It's literally follows the exact timeline he gave earlier in the season. I do think it will likely be December at the earliest before we get Bradshaw in an actual game.

Some of you guys need to get off HD's nuts. I get he will be a good player and get his, but you all do realize he and KU have to defend us as well, right? So, how are they going to do that? Give us your guy's analysis of how KU has any more success guarding our guys than we do stopping HD.
Exactly. HD has the same weaknesses Oscar had on the defensive end. Whoever he ends up guarding on the perimeter will have a huge advantage.

You play the game the same way we played OSU in 2011. Guard Sullinger/Dickenson straight up and make
Him finish over the top….active hands and swarm the perimeter to take away any wide open kickouts. I’d HD can go for 50+ so be it but what gets you beat is putting too much emphasis and doubling down getting out of position only for HD tk go for 20+ anyways but now you also gave up 5-9 open threes as a direct result and a multitude of open weak side putbacks.

I think how KY will do in the face of severe injuries is an interesting question,

Even more interesting is how The Kansas Penal System team would do without cheaters, rapists and other criminals.

JMO, but with today's portal where talent has become spread pretty equal among the top teams it now comes down to coaching. We know where they stand with coaching and most know where we stand.

Problem is with no shooters, you can easily double down on HD without having to worry about getting out on outside shooters. Bill Self can’t make shots for them. They’ll be decent, I’m sure. Dominant? Not hardly.

Swept UT last year, and beat Kansas the year before by 20 or something...in Kansas. Are you this negative in real life?
Its November, take a vacation.
OKay, Cal's teams are inconstant since he suffered mental problems by not going 40-0 in '15.

Kansas didn’t show anything in these game, just let them play, I promise you Kansas will be a lot better when the play Kentucky. Now Kentucky can still beat them either way, I’m just not expecting it

"Will we beat #1 Kansas without 1 of our 3 seven footers?"

There is no way we beat Kansas early in the season with the entirety of this roster.
However, and hopefully, by February, it's a different story.

IF, and a big IF, Cal takes a page from what teams did to us the last two years, we will beat Kansas. They don't shoot well and 2 of their main 5 aren't shooters. PG is a facilitator and little more. SF good D but not a scorer. I'm trusting Welch to be like Robic was and help us gameplan for this.

Remember if someone small and athletic has to guard HD, he has to guard them on the other end. It's a mismatch both ways. Put him in the PnR all night. Iso him 1-1 with Edwards. Wear him out and pull away late.

Remember this guy couldn't get Michigan in to the tournament with two first rounders playing with him last year. He is a stat-stuffer for sure and good. But is he a winner?

We announce to college basketball we are back next week.

Is Adu hurt if he is Mitchel will be in foul trouble the whole game

If Thiero is hurt.. what else can you say? We will be down 4 guys, and 4 of our 5 best "bigs". It's going to be hard enough to beat ANY top50 team when you're without that kind of talent.
