Why recruit any player that can't dribble, pass, or shoot?

Diallo cost himself millions coming to Kentucky. That late night decision to come back to play this year was the worst decision of his life. The guy would have gotten snagged at the bottom of the first on potential alone last season, now you'd have to be drunk or blind to use a pick on him.

Yet we still have dumbasses here complaining he didnt play and help us lose in the 1st round last year......

Cal needs to sit them all down & say "You guys suck & not one of you needs to even sniff the NBA".

We do too many dumb things to win big games.

-Give up rebounds on both ends by not blocking out or watching the ball instead of going after it.
-Unforced turnovers, especially at crucial points in the game.
-Miss WIDE OPEN shots.
-Miss too many FT's
-Rarely set their team mates up for better shots.
-Leave shooters, especially in the corners.

Those above areas have been a problem for the past month and we still haven't improved in any of them.
Sad.

To me, 10 players on the roster should be good to very good shooters and fundamentally sound on defense and decision making. Need 1 great shot blocker/rebounder and a decent back up for him and a lock down defender out front. Just don't get the lack of concern recruiting shooters.

On a serious note, you obviously need a balance on a roster. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist couldn’t really dibble, pass or shoot either (his NBA career pretty much bears this out ...).

But he was surrounded in 2012 by players (Teague, Lamb, Miller, Jones, etc.) who could.

MKG was a WARRIOR!!!

-HE had decent handles. He could drive without turning it over and could finish strong.
-He was constantly moving and active on both ends.
-He would get into ANY player he guarded, whether it was a Guard, Forward or a Center.
-He NEVER watched an opponent go over or around him to get a rebound.
-He had a BURNING desire to win.

Very few of our kids have ONE of the above characteristics.

Other teams shouldn't be outrebounding our guys. That's one advantage we should have.

Rebounding isn't just a product of height, length, and athleticism. If it was, Louisville wouldn't be such a terrible rebounding team.

Boxing out and hustle actually matter when it comes to rebounding. Young players often don't do the fundamentals like boxing out... and former high school stars often don't put forth 100% effort for things that aren't flashy. So this is predictably an area where this UK team is going to come up short.

Is it true that if we lose our next game Calipari will have the distinction of the worst stretch in our SEC history? That’s kind of telling. He’s on the verge of out doing the likes of Tubby, and Gillespie. Frightening stuff.
▪ For all the criticism of Tubby Smith, he also never had a four-game losing streak in his 10 seasons in charge of UK’s program.

Fundamentals yes... but we shouldn't be outhustled either. Hard to fix poor shooting in season but boxing out is something that should be stressed and worked on constantly. The coaches have no excuses in that area and this should be a good rebounding team.

The vast majority of teams in the United States at all levels of the sport do not have 10 good/very good shooters.

Though he also never coached at Kentucky when the SEC was the best conference in basketball
Who says the SEC is the BEST conference? RPI Conference rankings has them at 3rd. Eye test does show them way better than they’ve been, but so what? Isn’t that what you want? Does Cal get a pass because the SEC doesn’t suck ass this year?

This sums it up. It's just an unintelligent, lazy basketball team. Literally every pass is an adventure with this group. Diallo is awful, but the problems go WAY bigger than him.

What is your definition of a good shooter? If it is what I think it is, then that is a ridiculous expectation. In order to even come close you would have to recruit players who have no business playing here.

This team was so over rated coming out of high school, coaches does not judge talent or players with heart , and they will not try to get a Ky 3 star kid like Hollingworth that went to WKU..

How do you know this? Be has to work out for the teams and be put through the paces.

If he would have been drafted last season he will be drafted this season. It's all about potential.

Diallo can't play period - doesn't matter what school. A player like Michal Moreno at Scott Co will never be recruited by Cal but is already a better basketball player than PJ Washington
Better shooter better passer quicker rebounder - just a better player yet those 2" is what Cal sees
Moreno will go to a Butler or Auburn and be a player like Martin from Ballard at Butler

I really hope Diallo transfers. We need a roster spot for a real basketball player. and I wish him luck wherever he might go but he does need to go.

I'm soooo over it! And what moronic services 247 sports, rivals, ESPN rate kids so high that cannot do those three things? It is basketball right?

Who cares if you're athletic if you cannot ball?
Not art the to of the pecking order for Cal

We need to re-haul our recruiting staff...end of story. We've gotten so many head scratching kids the last 4 years since Antigua left staff it's like are you watching these kids play or just clicking on an internet page to see who is rated highest. Slice was the start of this crap and now Justice/Barbee, etc..it's a bad trend.

- Murray (at last second) Briscoe, Wynyard, Skal, Humphries, Matthews and Mulder class...WTH is that?
- Fox, Monk, Bam Gabriel, SKJ ...really good class up top
- Diallo, PJ, Vanderbilt, Green, Shai, Richards...

It's like when we miss on our top kids...we panic and get the next highest rated kid no matter what as long as he's a 5 star.
- Trae Young whif...then we revert to Quade Green (who I am still trying to see what is unique about his skill set).
- We had an open spot last year and took Diallo on a flyer....but we didn't really go after top kids to replace Monk and assumed it was Diallo. Huge mis-evalaution of his talent.
- We miss on Zimmerman, Check Diallo, etc.. and instead of getting Thomas Bryant we stick on Skal and Wynyard, Humphries? Who did that evaluation?
- We missed on Bridges, Tatum, etc.. and revert to Wenyen? I love the kid's motor but he's sort of like Hami...no skill kid

We need to completely re-haul the assistants...they are offering nothing to Cal in recruiting right now.
