Edwards, Bradshaw and DJ are all from the area. It will be a fun game.
They hit 21 3’s last game.. same approach as UNCW. Will spread floor n move ball to get matchup they want to take us off dribble! Our coach can’t teach man D anymore for some reason n is to damn stubborn to at least try changing defenses to slow the other team down…

I called Cal and asked him to schedule a game in the northeast so I could go. He used to go to NYC every year and make it easy for me, but this year he's making me drive 90 minutes to Philly.

UNCW also lost to East Carolina by 8 points. You know who else lost to East Carolina. The same Md Eastern shore by 11. East Carolina boast a nice resume with losses to S Carolina upstate and Northeastern.
If Cal lets them play small, we should be okay. If he insists on trying to slow the game down it could be worse than the UNCW game. How many times have we sat there screaming at our TV's that we don't defend the three?

Wasn't Penn the team the infamous Crispin brothers played for? I remember them coming into Rupp back in (2000 I think?) and shooting lights out to knock us off. The headline in the LHL the next morning read: "Burnt to a Crispin". Hehe.

Penn asked that this game be before Camp Cal as they could not cope afterward.
As expected, this thread isn't going very far. Not even made it to the 2nd page. Which again supports my original question - what was the point of this thread, and where where you on this board for the first several UK wins? That's right, you only come out during bad performances so you can pound your big Billy Bad Ass bass drum of extremist anti-Cal hatred.
But at least you got some fodder love from the small spattering of ultra-Cal-hate buddies. I'm agitated with Cal often and this has been clear in my criticisms of him all around this board over the last couple of years. But I'm not jumping on your extremist bandwagon after one bad game that came on the heels of several pretty fantastic showings. Had we look bad up until UNCW, I'd be singing a different tune (although still not as extreme as those of you that start and restart and restart thread after thread believing if you say it enough, and say it louder, everyone will just take on your extremist opinion, and maybe that'll be enough for Cal to be canned). My hopes are this was an outlier. Am I a little concerned - yep, because we all know how Cal can take a great thing and suddenly push the wheels off the car. But it's just too soon to be spending inordinate amounts of negative energy harping about it in every thread, every response, and every angle.
And go ahead and respond with the usual "you're a blind idiot if you don't see it", or "you and your Cal apologists...blah blah blah". Believe it or not, and this won't make you happy because your goal here is to bring everyone over to the "dark hate side", but the majority of UK fans even on this board are middle of the roaders - one day they are pissed at Cal, and the next day they might give him a reprieve. Fans in Kentucky that don't go on the boards are nowhere near those of us on this forum - they are very loose fans. Hell, no one around me at the Miami game in Rupp had even heard of Pat Adams when I talked about him! If you're a UK fan and don't get pissed at the name Pat Adams, what good are you?

To be fair, no one presses for 40 minutes anymore and for good reason. Most times, every position can handle the ball these days, making a press very easy to break. Also, he wouldn’t be adapting by pressing for 40 minutes, he would be going back in time to the 90’s when it was used a whole lot more.
Our guys simply just didn’t play with a sense of urgency and that falls on both Cal and the players. A young team will sometimes do that when playing a lesser team, except we have Mitchell and Reeves who should have also known better by being veteran players. Our man to man defense is great when our guys are fully engaged.
The game against Penn will tell us a lot about our team and our season trajectory. If we come out like our hind ends are on fire, you can say all is well and game on to the season. If we come out flat, expect a season a lot like last year.
This is just a bullshit excuse for Cal not pressuring the opposition. This idea that every player in college has excellent handles is nonsense. Most of the time a pressing team causes turnovers via the pass anyway. You use it to disrupt their flow and rhythm. Just like implementing a zone defense. Cal will do neither because the NBA doesn’t utilize them. That simple.
