Not invited to the combine and not on any mock drafts that I have seen but hired an agent.I thought he improved last season and could have made a good 4 for us next season with Bradshaw/Ugo handling the 5.Our players act like it's hell on earth to return.

There's a lot to like about Toppin's game - and I would have welcomed him back for next season - but I think with the other pieces in place someone like Keshad Johnson is a better fit.

Someone who's played on winning teams, brings toughness + consistency and is a proven positive on defense is what this roster needs.

It's going to be fun to play Johnson and Ugo together. That will really open things up.

Johnson can play along the perimeter and he's only marginally worse at 3P shooting than Toppin. Ideally he would be better in that area, Best case scenario is that the 5 freshman can all shoot. We'll see.

We don't have a true 4 on the whole roster.
I think either Livingston or Edwards could have worked out alright at the PF spot. I would have felt more comfortable with Livingston there just because I feel like I know what he brings already and I expect a jump in production from him. But I would have also liked seeing Reeves at 2G, Dalton Knecht at SF and Edwards at PF. If you had a good scorer and consistent perimeter shooter at 2G (which I doubt any of the freshmen really fit that category yet), then Reeves at SF and Edwards at PF may have also been pretty good offensively.

Some players will just be happy with the nil money the got while at UK. More money than some people will see in a lifetime. Depends on what motivates them.

Cal ain’t playing a 3 at the 4 no matter how good of an idea it is.

Toppin should have never been here. He's just not good enough. People thought he should have played over Brooks last year. This year we saw whey he didn't. As bad as Brooks was, he was better than Toppin.

He was unguarded this year and didn't take advantage. He can't pass, can't handle, damn sure can't guard and he is too much of a sissy to take it to the basketball.

Edwards ain't sniffing the 4 spot in any world.

And what promises would that be?

Cal have never once made promises to players about position or playing time.

But according to you he has started now. So what are those promises?
And if you believe that, I've got some ocean front property in Eastern Kentucky to sell ya. You know good and well that Cal promises playing time and position, just like this year with Bradshaw.

You're probably right about that. Also, I can't control that; and I'm not stupid enough to think my opinion is the only one or has to be correct. It's just my belief that Edwards is not ready to be a strong offensive factor at SF... YET. Doesn't mean I don't think he's got lots of upside and a bright future.

So, are you saying Cal did a bad job scouting Toppin when he offered him a scholarship? lol

As I said in reply to another poster, I can't control that and I don't claim my opinion is the only one or infallible. But, irrespective of what Calipari will or won't do (and I don't claim to know for sure what that might be), wouldn't you agree that what matters in deciding what position a player plays should be based on how it impacts winning?

My personal opinion is that Edwards has the length and IQ to play PF against most college teams (probably all those teams in a team defense setting) and that his still developing offense would play better at PF (e.g., he could be better offensively than most opponents' PF, but weaker offensively in comparison to most of the better college SFs).

Oh I agree, but impacting team winning is not Cals first priority. That’s why Immanuel Quickley came off the bench for 10 games behind Khalil Whitney and others. Whitney struggled making layups and started 8 games over the SEC player of the year.
