5 points in 62 minutes of play this week. He did get 14 rebounds but still……
What in the hell happened to Mitchell?

Not super talented and can't handle being here. Laziness getting exposed. Doesn't have the 'nads to sack up and fight thru it so he's quit. Always easier to quit.
Mitchell has been one of the big problems the last 4 games.
He's getting worn down. Most per game minutes he's every played. He's had to cover while 7 footers missed games. While Thiero has missed games. While Edwards has been terrible most games. He's playing in a high tempo offense. He's been asked to do a lot so far in these first 21 games.
It's funny af to see how some seem to be turning on a guy who has busted his ass to help keep the team afloat while guys were injured. It's easier to be lazy and say he's quitting instead of actually looking at it logically.
Also, like Triadz mentioned, Cal didn't try to go to Burks more. He didn't give the guy a real chance to adjust and gain experience. At least not as much as he could have those first 15 games.

When Cal started playing 3 seven footers with Mitchell it changed his game the lane has been more clogged since and the 7 footers are just inept defensively
Transferred to 4 different schools in college career. That shows he's a quitter.
He’s not the most physical 4 man out there, and he’s been pushed around a bit by teams with some rugged interior players. Whether the frustration of that is affecting him or whether it’s purely coincidental, he’s also been in a deep shooting slump, so he’s not giving us much lately. We need him to get back to being productive if we’re going to finish this season respectably.
Tre is a good player for us big picture. He's been bad the last little bit for sure, but everybody has rough stretches. The issue is role for him. He'd be a lot better playing 20-25 minutes instead of 35. Shoot a couple 3's, facilitate some on offense, rebound and play average defense. That should be his role.

Maybe, just maybe Mitchell has lost his zeal in part due to the crappy in-game coaching, the team-wide allergy to defense, and the increasing 1-on-5 guard play? Reasonable minds can differ.
Great question? This should've been a bounceback game for someone with his experience and leadership skills.
Agreed. The game thread and others can get pretty sickening with how players get treated. I get they're getting paid now but this has been going on for years and years. We're not talking about kids posting here as well for the most part. A lot are grown ass men being bullies behind a keyboard and acting like children. A lot of that going around these days.

This is his 4th school. He hasn’t played defense since arriving. He doesn’t actually rebound well - he just grabs more because he plays 34mpg. His FT shooting has been horrid. He’s had games where he shot the ball poorly from three from the get (i.e. 0-3, 0-2, 1-4, 1-4, 1-6, 0-5).
He was much more valuable when we played weak competition and he was at the 5. Now, I’d rather see Thiero and a big with Reed, Dilly, and Reeves.

So to sum it all up. He’s not that good and is a quitter.
We can’t stretch the if our 4 man can’t make shots and now he gets abused on defense, plus the fact when we get injured they’re gone for wks vs days like other teams so very little room for error. We have zero inside presence & the mins thing I don’t buy…….he’s still young and should be able to handle 34 mpg. What college player or any player for that matter doesn’t want to play most of the game??? His struggles give us no room for error cause Edwards can’t score then nothing from the 5s so the guards have to basically never miss since we can’t stop anyone from scoring.
Early in Florida game he scored and gave the you too small guard me sign and has sucked since I hate when players do that it just motivates the opponent.
