look at when doing seeds? Do they look at bracket matrix? Other things. I'm being serious. Doe our rpi and sos matter?

Kentucky moved up 1 in the RPI at #19 RPI and SOS is now #3 and most have us anywhere from seed 6 to seed 8.

Right now most of the bracketologist have UK from 6 seed to a 8 seed. After the Top 16 were named on Sunday CBS had UK a 7 seed playing 10 seed Providence. They do look at the RPI, SOS, Rankings, and other new categories called Quad 1, Quad 2, Quad 3 which is your record against Top 25, Top 50, and Top 100.

The next 5 games is huge for UK so Cal better get Diallo a spot on the Bench if he wants to move up in next 5 games. We can move up with who we are playing in these 5 games with Alabama at #31, At Arkansas next Tues. #32 RPI, home vs. Missouri #22 RPI, at Florida dropped to #56 RPI, and home Ole Miss at #120. The game that would kill us is if we Ole Miss would upset UK in Rupp with a #120 RPI. The other four games would help us not only in the RPI but also in the Rankings. We could get 4 win with Top 50 and the best would be on the Road at Arkansas and then at Florida. The 2 at Rupp with Bama being #31 and Missouri at #22 RPI would be a huge bump if we can win these 4 games. We could possibly move up to a 3 or 4 Seed if we can win these games and depending on the other teams in the other conferences and what they do in there last 5 games and Conference Tourney.

Very nice info. Thanks for sharing. However I find it difficult to believe that the way we've been playing that there is any chance that we can move up to a three seed. Even if we completely flipped a switch (and there has been no evidence that this team has that in them) and won 4 out of our remaing 5 games thatbwed get anything better than a 5 seed.

Now if we ran through the sec tournament, maybe, but the committee members always seem to remember us playing at our worst and overlook our best. Actual scientific numbers and stats dont seem to play a part in our seeding.

RPI is important even though each year the committee chairman says they will look at many other rating systems.

We have been stinking it up lately but, Okla. on 4 game skid, Purdue on a 3 game skid, and 3 of the top 10 lost just last night. So, while I hate what's happening to us, put in perspective, we're ok for a 5-7 seed IMO. Which, considering the youth and inexperience of this team might just be the ceiling with maybe a Sweet 16 finish. Cal's loading up on next year ( lots of experience plus the new guys; SHOOTERS in Baker and Herro). So I'm cool with it.

RPI is used as a major tool in seeding because it allows these lazy, unqualified, & biased cretins to not watch games. Instead, they sit back & quote this flawed metric constantly, which results in annually overinflated teams like Kansas receiving higher seeds while other teams like Kentucky getting the shaft.
