We're gonna be fine BUT

Define "fine."

Fine as in, a 4 seed and having to face a 1 seed before the Elite Eight?

That type of fine, because that's where we're headed.
1 seeds haven’t faired so well lately. Two 16 seeds have beaten a 1 seed within the last 5 years.

Seeding isn’t everything. UCONN was a 4 and rolled. Health and momentum are everything. The parity of the sport and the increased reliance from teams on high variance 3 point shooting diminishes the value of seeding IMO.

The historical data for seed performance is skewed from the current state of the sport but in general the better teams throughout the year should be expected to be better in March as well.

Still a Saturday crushing loss that sucks.

I still think we have a chance at a 1 or 2 seed. There won’t be many teams with less than 3-5 losses come March. But we still have a TON of time to recover from today’s loss. As much as I hate losing to a team like this this early, I’d rather it be now and this team than late and an SEC weakling.

I’m taking a different approach after this loss. This team has shown me enough to still feel damned good about our seeding and tourney performance. Ask me again in early Feb, though.

Slim chance at a 1 seed unless we get a lot of help. Would have to only drop 1 or 2 in SEC play. I’d say a 2 would be the ceiling.
