is still playing college basketball. Committed to Kentucky forever ago but will be a senior at Cleveland State this year. Just hard to believe. Nothing else.

Congrats to him. Loved UK and wanted to be here. He utilized his skills to acquire a scholarship, an education, and shot at the dance in D1. He should be proud and so should his parents.

What's your point OP, or are you just trying to start shit?

Well that was a little aggressive.

I think the guy was just pointing out to the rest of us how surprising it sounds that he's still playing college b-ball, since his signing with us feels like a lifetime ago (I mean, Cal's going into his 7th season at UK!).

I didn't read anything that sounded ill toward Zollo.

Maybe so. I apologize. I'll just log out now.

The curious case of Vinny Zollo......

I believe he went the following route:

Commit to UK
Commit to WKU, play 1 year
Transfer to Furman, never suited up
Transfer to Northwest Florida Junior College, play 1 year
Transfer to Cleveland State, play 2 seasons

It is so crazy looking back at some of the BCG commits. Michael Avery is also still playing. He is a senior at Sonoma State University. I think those are the only 2 left.

What I remember best about the Zollo commitment was Tipton interviewing his mother and trying to see if he how much he could trash Billy G. Ironically, I put Tipton and Billy in the same basic category. I wonder if Tipton and Billy will be roommates in the afterlife?[winking]

saw him in person years ago, when UK played the NIT game in memorial. With his dad.

The delusion that UL fans have now when thinking about their recruiting is similar to what we had during Gillispie's brief reign of terror. I'll confess to being one of those who was convincing themselves that Zollo, Villarino, Dominique Ferguson, etc. were really diamonds in the rough. Thank God we are not there anymore.

The reminders of that era are like torturous mumblings in my mind...

They're taking me back now...

I see Vanderbilt massacring us.

And Harrelson locked in a bathroom stall.

There's Perry forcibly being fed pop tarts.

And Michael Avery growing a peach stash as an 8th grade commitment.

There's a five star recruit and the knowledge that the only way we'll get him to Lexington is by committing a felony and kidnapping him.

Holy Heaven, thank you for your tender mercies.

Ptttf. I knew they were all bums. What we do now is all that's acceptable. A bunch of McDonalds All Americans every year. And 3-4 of the top 10 or 12 players. Screw Billy G and Tubby both. Getting a bunch of losers every year hoping they turn out to be something. Having 5 All Americans starting and All Americans coming off the bench is all that's acceptable. Nothing less.
