The Spurs are obviously in a great spot. They were 30th in payroll last year. They only have around $77 million in payroll commitments next year. They locked up Keldon Johnson to a reasonably fair bargain price for the franchise ($20 million/year for a guy who can go out and get you 20 points/game).
What's crazy is that Keldon Johnson is the only player they're financially committed to beyond next season. By the time VM is entering his second year, the Spurs can go absolutely hog wild in free agency, or they can continue the slow burn rebuild while solidifying a roster around Webanyama and Keldon.
If I'm a Spurs fan, I'm about as excited about the future as at any point in the teams history (Tim Duncan draft year not withstanding).
