Parks is kinda smooth. Hasn’t had quite the flash as some others but has made some good plays.
It's a poor Bolivia team, but I think McKinney, Sargeant, Weah, Robertson, Zimmerman have quality. Robertson went head 2 head in Championship with Bolton. Sargeant has been training with Werder Bremen. McKinney is a Shalke. Weah at PSG. Rubin is at Club Tijuana. These dudes see far better competition at their clubs. So I'm not worried there. I'm interested to see how this develops when we get a chemistry together. I'm a big fan of Novakovich too . Reminds me of Mandzukic.
Tell ya what though, if you were part of that 11 that lost at T&T, you better get your ass in gear. No is wasting time on guys. Like Wood and Altidore got competition. As does Bradley in the midfield...

Parks is just such a gem at his size. Those long legs in the midfield cause problems.
I think we’ve rode the Bradley train for far too long. He’ll make a good play followed by a terrible one. I’ve never been a Bradley fan.....or at least never understood the hype.
Agree especially now with the likes of Tyler Adams, Weston McKinney, Parks, Acosta and others there that give you so much more.
A side discussion. I understand the US’s lack of technical players. Poor development, competition, soccer isn’t the marquee sport, etc. But I’m surprised we don’t turn out more defensive core.....CBs or GKs. The US is chock full of uber athletic mildly tall guys.
What are your thoughts?
So much of defense is tactical awareness and also technical as well. It the modern game it is desired for CB to have the technical ability to play long balls forward for finish headers which isn't all just being tall. And many of our defenders simply do not get the tactical positioning drilled into them the way a German or Italian player does at the age of 8-10.
I love the thought of Weah, Pulisic, Sargeant, and Rubin up front for the next ~10 years. Very talented.
Also, today at 5:30 is the Cincinnati MLS announcement. Looks like I'm heading to Fountain Square with a few thousand other supporters to celebrate.
The movement of Sargeant and Weah is next level stuff. Werder Bremen is going to be very happy with Sargeant. Kid has great instincts.
I'm also big on Novakovich.
It will be interesting to see the lineups for Ireland and France. I expect more MLS players to be part of the squad, but I hope its just young ones

Well, with the deed being done for FCC being in the MLS next year, does anyone know how team selection/building will go?

I don't know it really well, but FCC wanted to get in next season to avoid the same year as when Miami and Nashville enter.
The MLS has a "Superdraft" where FCC will pick first for college graduates and others than haven't signed.
They'll also be an expansion draft. They'll set the rules later but I think teams get to protect 11 players, plus hometown players, and FCC will get up to 5 total players, no more than 1 per team.
After that, they'll have a few of the players on their current roster and then they'll have to go out and get others to sign as normal to fill out their roster. I think each team gets up to 3 designated international players that don't fall under salary cap rules - think of Rooney, Pirlo, Cahill, David Villa, etc.
Atlanta had 3 years to find a roster, so FCC is at a pretty extreme disadvantage.
I was down there yesterday for the announcement - crazy scene.
I'm surprised they announced their current manager (Koch) will be the manager next season. I'm really surprised they aren't poaching Louisville's manager, as he's incredible. They keep beating FCC with none of the resources/funding.

Nippert.....until the stadium is built. The proposed building site is across the interstate from the Children's Museum.....where Taft HS is located.

Nippert for 2 seasons, which is an incredible stadium. The new one will be in an amazing neighborhood, but initially much smaller (21k I think).

Just watched a video commentary on ESPN from Alejandro Moreno. The topic was "is the USMNT youth mov't legit?"
Basically, he said that we should be very excited and that, yes, the talent is legit. Now, he quickly covered himself saying that Bolivia isn't very good and that if the talent doesn't continue to trend upward then it's all for naught.
But it got me thinking. If we had made the World Cup, when would we have seen these young guys? Likely after this current WC.....but would they have rode the older veterans for far too long? But since we didn't make the WC, it seems like the interim coaches are content with playing the younger guys. Could this be some twisted silver lining?

I agree. It could ramp up the development of all these guys. They likely would have played in the Aug/Sept friendlies, but getting them up a few months prior and especially getting some of them cap-locked to the US is huge.
I don't know if they would've even played them much at all. I could see a scenario where the coaches would've rode the veterans all the way through the Gold Cup next yr.....then who knows?
Still pissed at the USMNT for not making the World Cup. Couldn't care less if all veterans were sent packing and let the youth represent until 2022 and beyond. Take their beatings now and get experience.
Completely agree. Don't get me wrong. I would've rather us made the WC. Just trying to look for whatever positivity I can find.
The irony will be getting there from KY.
If traveling I-71/75 North across the Brent Spence Bridge, you can't take the most convenient exits as cars can traveling South. You will be forced to take 5th Street or River Rd and wind your way thru town.
Trust me, I've wanted to stop by the post office or visit the Museum Center and forgot how easy it is to drive right by and being forced to turn around. Such a pain!
We’ve always just followed the signs or our navigation. Haven’t had an issue.
The funny part for us is that the signs or navigation always takes you through rough parts of town. You’re constantly checking your gas tank making sure you can cruise right through. It really gives you the impression that Cincy has a lot of bad parts.
OTR was a bad part of town gentrified to attract businesses and wealthier residents. It has been a resounding success in that objective. The stadium will sit on the border of OTR in the West End neighborhood where residents, perhaps with good cause, fear that they will be the next to move. But this area has also been gentrified with townhouses lining the streets where housing projects once stood. Rising housing prices and rent essentially pushes the poor further west, north and into NKY. I believe there's only one or two projects left near the site. Newport and Covington did exactly the same thing but development is painfully slow compared to Cincy.
The infrastructure investment guaranteed by the city and state is now under attack from a group wanting measures on the November ballot to reduce it. The idea is to maintain these areas as they were or more affordable at minimum. I guess they wanted more money in the negotiations, idk. But if nothing changes, expect I-71/75 travelers to drive West Liberty Street, Linn Street, Central Avenue, John Street or Ezzard Charles Drive where the best access to the stadium is located.
I often travel West from I-471 to US 50 or Fort Washington Way but when I drove from Florence and I-75 a couple weeks ago, I just missed the River Road exit by mistake. It happens.

I was listening to WLW about it.They had a better option in Oakley, but MLS wanted the more urban area.

The MLS didn't want it in a bad part of town. They simply want stadiums in the urban core and this was the only/best location in the urban core.
Yeah, once the casino was built at Broadway Commons but there was no reason not to keep the current HS stadium where it stands. The empty lot where they plan to move it is just a block away. It simply must be cheaper building the new stadium on public property even if it means tearing down a 14-year old stadium.
