UL prez sends out pre-infractions committee hearing letter

I don't even care what happens to UL anymore. Yes the '13 banner deservingly needs to be stripped down, but all this IMO pails in comparison to the corruption UNC has been getting away with for decades. All I want is justice and that means 2 UNC banners coming down and we all know the '05 and '09 banners are staying even though they shouldn't. As far as UL goes theyre too much of a nonfactor for me to care about. But yea the '13 banner needs to come down. But if it don't then oh well, what will upset me though is if the '05 and '09 banners stay. That's what's gonna really grind my gears.

That letter is pretty clearly trying to sell to jury that the self imposed violation was all that the crime calls for. "Nothing more to see here." He says that the self imposed ban for the NCAA tourney is "among the most severe ever?" Oh really? That is simply lawyer words attempting to sell that there is no more that needs to happen. The banner can stay..... BS. The NCAA will decide and not the new leader of the crime family.

RP gave him hyperbole pointers in writing the letter.

I keep thinking about that former NCAA Infractions employee being interviewed in the 30 for 30 Calipari piece and him saying " the question asked to Memphis was did they agree that they played and ineligible player during the Rose Year". He said with that being answered yes there was no doubt that the Runner Up banner and all wins had to be vacated. If I was Memphis and Calipari I would throw a fit if they didn't do likewise to Louisville and worse.

In the linked article about Williams, it says that the NCAA has records of McGee wiring money from KS where he was working his new job, to Louisville bank accounts to set up girls, recruits, Katrina meetings...that has to be the biggest anchor in this. Why would he do this once he left, who directed him to do it and how did the money filter through? If Pitino is proven to have knowledge of any of this, they are shut down and so is he.

Good point.

this is the reason I am 100% sure slick knew everything and just played it hands off.

Nothing wrong with nailing them both.

Not a lot of people share that opinion but I applaud you for being fair about it without being bias. And as a Kentucky fan, I'd be bias too. Most of us would be whether we like it or not.

Also, to your point, I tend to agree pitino did or could have known. I know a guy personally who was a booster for UK in the 90's. a recruit came in and pitino told the booster to do whatever it takes to get him. The recruit was Nazr and the booster asked why. Pitino told him "that kid is going to be a stud. You do whatever it takes to get him." Well, he obviously committed. This isn't new for pitino. Period.

As an old timer.........I think that this situation at UL is unlike any other recruiting violations that I ever remember. I think from a morality standpoint they have to slap UL with severe sanctions. Providing prostitutes/strippers for underage prospects is bad. This isn't setting a prospect up with a escort that reportedly has loose drawers. That has went on for years. This is a level of trash and the NCAA will act appropriately!

When UL tried to portray McGee as a rogue, doing things without anyone's knowledge, I said, at that time, they were just hoping to minimize damage. No way that McGee, in St Louis, makes arrangements for Katina to host players at UL, when he had been gone for months. He certainly wasn't going to use his own money. The NCAA is going to nail them, for lying, and covering up, as much as the infraction, itself. Kind of like Pearl. The infraction wasn't the reason he received a "show cause", it was the lying. Rick will be out for a year, they will get at least one more year post season ban, probably on-campus recruiting for a year, maybe a loss of scholarships, and the NC may be in question. I think they may let them slide on the NC, but, they will hit them hard on everything else. Be a real shame, since they will probably have a good team this coming year.
