Pony up? Lol, we make as much as UT and we go 4-8.

While collective funding is low, Kentucky has been a top 20 athletic program in total revenue, partly thanks to being a school that profits from its basketball program. Looking ahead to 2025, Kentucky is expected to stay in the top 20 nationally in athletic revenue, fifth in the SEC by bringing in an estimated 131,139,792. Ahead of programs like Georgia, LSU, Florida, and Tennessee.

The author of that article didn’t bother to read the source he cited.

Those aren’t actual figures. They are estimates that were made by assuming that collectives spent $817 million across all schools, and then allocating those dollars in proportion to a school’s total revenue from tickets and contributions.

So if UK’s ticket and contributions revenue was 1% of the total across all schools, then they assumed that UK’s collectives would also account for 1% of the total collective revenues across all schools.

Long story short, those aren’t real numbers.

I’m not sure there are any legitimate collective numbers out there but if those are it shows that we are plenty competitive enough to go win games. We’ll never pass certain schools but that’s how it was when recruiting bases mattered more than they do now. Some schools had advantages then but some of that has dissipated and kids are more likely to go outside the local U.

One thing that is correct is that the athletics department revenue is plenty competitive enough to go compete at football and with rev share coming that puts us in a slightly better spot than just pure NIL. It’s all about administrators and coaches making good decisions and it’s always been that way.
