UK #17 in new Coaches Poll; Zona #1

Brutal, we would have been close to top5, certainly no lower than like 7th or 8th.
Better than I thought. But right back where we stared.

But....daaaaaaamn. Duke? Wow....the K aura is certainly gone from Durham and Cameron.

Also BRUTAL week for the SEC, we had 5 teams in the T25 at one point. We have freaking 3 now. And they're all in the bottom half.

We should be T5 right now. Thanks Cal.

Really need them to keep slipping up more than anyone. Would certainly help with recruiting if they're in disarray.

This also makes me feel a little better about the match up with them next year. I won't close the book on Scheyer just yet, but it's clear he is not anywhere near the same level as Coach K. If Coach K had a guy like Flagg, there'd be little chance we could win that game. But now, the door is open. And I also wouldn't be shocked if some of their players opt to leave early, transfer or maybe even decommit.

Beating a top 10 team and then losing to a mid major, both at home, is a wash. Like said above, back to step 1. Plenty of opportunities to pick up good wins, just please avoid the bad losses.

Not really, they are 5-3. Think UK would still be in top 25 with the same record. Love how Miami is ranked ahead of us after losing to us by 20+. Pretty comical actually despite the loss to UNCW.

What's even more sad is we don't have anybody who thinks that's a bad ranking.

Seriously, we're LUCKY to be at 16????????

What the literal EFF has happened to our program?

EAD, COWPERRY!
We kinda are. That was a really bad loss. Tbh, I thought we'd be around 21-22 this morning.

IMO... it's this attitude that contibutes to our demise (and apparently Dukes now as well). It means nothing to have the best recruiting class anymore. It only mattered when kids stuck around.
I take that back... it does mean something... it means that we are going to get a lot of Ls, especially early. It means we'll lose the all-times wins lead, again. Our legacy will become getting kids to the NBA.
There has to be a mix... 5*s, projects, and transfers... and they all have to have an equal shot to see the floor... not just the kids that are projected in the draft first round.

Cal GENERALLY does pretty well when we have the higher echelon of recruits and we DID just beat the brakes off a top10 team.

I think the loss to UNCW was more of just the growing pains of elite-but-young talent. I also think as the game focuses more on the 3 and offense, there's a greater chance for upsets. It's not bully ball anymore. On Saturday 4 top25 teams lost, and 3 of them were to opponents that were far beneath them. Only 12 ranked teams played. On Sunday 3 ranked teams played, 1 lost to a mid major. We've had TWO 1-seeds lose to a 16-seed over the last 5 years.

I'm not saying the crappier teams are closer to the top25, but I do think the way basketball is played now, there's a greater chance for random upsets. 10-15 years ago, teams were averaging anywhere from like 20-25 3-pt attempts a game.. today? Teams are pushing into the 30's.

We just had an absolutely terrible loss. Hate to say it but with that loss we needed to drop several.
Can not pin DJ was out… no excuses UK should beat that team at home with or without DJ.

I do think we bounce back though.

Should be in the top 10 but of course we make uncw look like a FF team at rupp, he just can’t help himself & get out of the way.
Yeah, it had zero to do with us not being able to hit the broad side of a barn. He can’t make the shots for them. We lost because we shot like crap and had a crazy amount of turnovers compared to previous games.

You can’t put 100 of this on Cal, no matter how much you would like.
