Tre Mitchell

Don’t want his game to go unappreciated with everyone and everything else being talked about. 18 pts, 12 reb, 3 blocks, 4/7 on threes. Nice all around game.
Yep, very good game from him. Had a nice steal that led to a bucket on the other end too. I would like to know what's going on with his finger and the need for the big wrap. Hopefully nothing bad at all (he played just fine this game with it anyways).

Tre is the engine that makes this team go. Inside/outside threat and an elite passer for his size. He can play 50mins a game as far as I'm concerned.

Tre, Reed, and Dilly are the real core of this team. They all are relied on to be playmakers and score. They also do it well. Reeves might be the leading scorer, but he primarily a jump shooter. He isn't relied on like the other guys to do a bit of everything on offense.

Mitchell, Reeves, Shep, Dilly, and Edwards all had good games tonight and Mitchell and She both had double-double games and Edwards had 13 & 7. Bradshaw and Wagner had 4 points combined and 20 minutes playing time and UK still won by 19 tonight! I believe it could have been a 40-point win but Cal didn't want that vs. Payne.

I love Mitchell and think he is one of best transfers we have had. But, in my little mind, this is a total team. They play together, trust one another, look for each other on the court and genuinely look like they really like each other a great deal. About as excited as I've been about a UK team in years. This team has it all and still just developing as Bradshaw and Onyenso are just getting started. I love this "team".

Agreed. He was very good tonight. They kept leaving him on that pick and pop, and he was nailing it. He's a very skilled guy and very important to the success of this team.

It seems like teams keep leaving him just wide open for three. It's honestly surprising considering how he's clearly capable of hitting from outside.

This is why it's so hard for me to take away Tre's minutes. Maybe he doesn't need 35, but he needs at least 20. He's just too good of a "basketball player" to keep off the court when we have a lot of youth. Dude has been a huge anchor that goes well beyond the box score.

His experience is invaluable. Maybe come end of the year the team comes along enough that we don't need him as much, but even then, I still want him in there making smart plays.

And nice footwork/drop steps on those post ups. And he posts high usually, not fully on the low block.
He had a move down low against UNC that was beautiful. Cal did his little hop on the sideline as Mitchell scored. You know when that happens it was a great move down low.

I don’t know why any coach thinks it’s a good idea to zone with Mitchell in the game. The SIMPLE passes he makes to the cutter on the baseline are just so easy for him.
And if Bradshaw can hit the 3 relatively consistently it adds a whole new wrinkle to this. If Bradshaw's guy sags off him Mitchell can dish to him for a 3, if his man plays up tight he can cut down the baseline for a layup or dunk. This team has so many options on offense.
