This Team Is Tired

I don't know if there is anything to it or not, but the two games we struggled, Cal had them go through a full practice on gameday. The ATm practice was at 7am, 6am Lexington time. May be some fatigue, maybe not. But something to consider.

Two problems right now. One is that teams are zoning us and packing it inside so it's making it very difficult for us to go to our strength which is our bigs or dribble penetration. They are forcing us to shoot when this team isn't a consistent shooting team. We hit shots against UL but not the last two games. If we're not hitting shots then our defense has to be on the entire game.

Second is our lack of defense and rebounding the past two games. Neither of which should be a problem for us but it has been the past two games and it's shown with us nearly getting beat both games. When we're playing great defense, we can't be beat even if we have a bad offense. We did it all regular season. But the last two games we have played poorly defensively and haven't rebounded well. We played better defense the second half of the TAMU game and it allowed us to claw back and win. This team needs to get back to that #1 rated defense from the regular season.

Shock Me is absolutely correct. But tired? Well I will put it this way. We are just 2 games into the SEC. I certainly hope not.

tired? hahahahahaha... with enough players to play 2 platoons? that is a good one...

what is wrong with just stating the truth?

Cal platooned these guys for the 1st 12 games and nobody got a tremendous amount of minutes.

Virginia looks pretty good and they play 7-8 guys. UL gets up and down.

Lack of focus... Yep
Confused on offense... Yep
Lack of intensity... Yep
Tired..., not buying it

That is why they ARE tired. They had not played full games this entire year OR in the Bahamas and they are being called on to double their minutes. That's not an easy fitness level that you just flip the switch on and go even if you are 19. Yes, they are elite athletes, but very few of their high school games called on them to be at the fitness level that they need to be in a full college game. We're they trained to play full games? I don't think so.
So it's feasible that they are tired. The long breaks in between games is not good either. Your fitness level is just not the same with practice VS real game action.
We'll see. But Cal would never let on.

You have to understand the truth b4 you can state it.

So many disappointed in how it should be in their eyes.

Don't forget we started in August...2 months early. It's mental fatigue, like happens in the NBA in Feb/March.

If this team were tired they would have at least dropped 1 of the last two ot games. They are not mentally or physically tired they have a giant bullseye on them

Yeah but what you see a lot of times is teams go through a lull and look like they have dead legs, then they come out of it and start to hit a groove.

More than fatigue is the fact that Kentucky still doesn't have an identity offensively. We said the same thing for most of 2011-'12, mainly because people were so down on Teague. But that team was never an offensive juggernaut either. Davis for as great as he was roamed around a lot and didn't really become offensively efficient until very late.

Cal will just have to find out what this team is. He's pulled some pretty masterful strings in the past. The Harrellson/Knight pick-and-roll, the tweak last year--this team is just sort of playing right now and isn't honed in. Some of that is by design; he doesn't want them to peak too early. Some of it I'm sure is that he's still searching for what this team can do well offensively.

If they would take care of these crap teams in regulation and not go to overtime they would get more rest

The same way you can be tired of your job a week after returning from vacation.

Complacency. Boredom. Winter. Lack of vitamin d, no sunshine and no women in tight clothes strutting around campus.

There's a hundred reasons January is terrible for college basketball, not the least of which, it's right smack dab in the middle of the school year for these kids, and like us, monotony can creep in and hold a person hostage for a few weeks.

I've had this same thought. When they drive they seem to anticipate a lot of things--Andrew in particular--that never come.

So, if by chance we meet ourselves in the National Championship Game, and we lose.....do we still win? I'm really confused here.
