This was supposed to be Flagg's coronation. They thought they were going to be able to use the Kentucky name to really layer on a win for Flagg. Unfortunately for them, they F-ed around and found out. Lol, They would have treated a win over Kentucky like it was the national championship.

Duke was tired in the second half. Flagg was the only one keeping them in the game. Their legs got weak and caused them to miss a lot of those shots.
Yeah, and Duke killed us in the paint. Maybe next time, Duke hits more 3's, maybe we score more at the rim, and maybe we get something from Robinson. We didn't exactly play well.
I went over to lil bros page who were begging Duke to win. After the game many realized that Pope can coach and that they are still screwed lol. Now they are real worried about the future when he recruits more talent. They convinced themselves he was Kenny Payne.

This game might not matter for this season specifically, nor will it matter much for Duke (although with the ACC being well behind several other conferences, i suspect they won't have THAT chances for top25 wins).
But it matters for our new coach and team, and I'd say the same thing if this was Scheyers first year as well. Duke might not care now, but this is a program changing type of win for Pope.. while also being yet another Duke loss while having ALL this talent AND the officials.

Ah yes, the mental gymnastics of a moral victory. Our calling card the last 7 years. Blood pressure be damned, give me all the salt.
Also, red hot? We definitely started 5-5 but overall, from then on, we only went 5-20. The difference is adjustments. We ended up 40% for the game but after the initial 5 we went ice cold. When the 3s weren't falling, Pope made adjustments to how we had to win as opposed to trying to shoot OUT of it like most coaches (Nate Oates) would do. Before the game we were averaging 35 attempts from deep per game in the previous 4 contests. If we try to shoot 10 more 3s to get out of a slump, we risk losing the game. That's what good coaching does.
Not that 23 attempts from 3 is a lot for a good shooting Duke team but they were unstoppable inside and should have kept going at it. We made the right adjustments and they didn't. Feels good to say that for once.
