Only a matter of time before this time bomb went off. Too many strong personalities in that locker room for an explosion not to happen. George Karl will not finish the season IMO.

DeMarcus Cousins Cursed Out George Karl in Front of the Team as the Kings Unravel

Adrian Wojnarowski reported in June that Ranadive was interested in Calipari, and that interest has developed into full-blown man crush in recent months. The Kings over-drafting Willie Cauley-Stein 6th last summer was mostly due to Ranadive’s friendship with Calipari. Ditto the signing of Rajon Rondo.

Cal to the Kings!!!
EFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Cal would be crazy to take over that dumpster fire. Unless Sacramento can acquire Anthony Davis, I don't see Cal going anywhere near that job.

Cal isn't going to the Kings unless he's insane. It's a disfuctional situation with a owner who thinks it's a fantasy team and a GM in Divac who admittedly doesn't even understand how the NBA salary cap works. They're the opposite of a good franchise like the Spurs.

No idea why Cal would even entertain the Kings. I guess the money, total control, and 3 former UK guys would be appealing to him.

But still, don't think it happens.

No way an NBA coach has more control than a College coach though. Calipari might as well be the Owner, GM, and Coach of Kentucky basketball.

True LineSki. In the NBA you as a coach, even if you're also the GM, President, etc., you're dealing with a billionaire (these days) owner with an ego that can't fit into the room. Who will more times than not question your every move. While in college, you deal with the AD who usually is low key and the college president who has many other things to do than micro-manage a B'ball coach. If it wasn't for the recruiting part of the college game, in b'ball and football, some of these coaches that go from college to pro would stay in college.

He's a recruiting guru and a master of the young ego... two things that really won't matter (ego's a little, I guess) in the NBA. From a business perspective, going to the NBA really isn't a good idea for him, or most college coaches. People forget, he basically hand picks his teams every year and runs with a squad that realistically, can't lose to 66% of other colleges out there. I mean, CAN'T lose aside from some fluke.

If a Calipari UK team was in the NBA (comparing to other college teams), he'd be about a bajillion dollars over the salary cap. That's important to remember, because having that edge goes away. Cal/UK have a leg up on the competition that can't even come CLOSE to being replicated in the NBA.

I love Cal, but everything John Calipari is great at goes away at the pro-level.

I love Cousins, but damn - you can't do that - I'm not certain Lebron could do that.

Lebron could literally take a dump on David Blatt's head in the locker room postgame and the Cavs would maybe suspend him one game. He would have to murder several people for Cleveland to even entertain the idea of getting rid of him.

Difference is there are two of his ex players on the Kings. Although I don't think that would be nearly enough to entice him to make the jump.

Sure Jersey but if he makes the jump don't you think it is for a shot at a ring and not to coach his old players?

Sometimes you have to just let go of a player, even if he is your best player. Boogie needs to go to a team where there is at least one better player on the team (Cavs, Rockets, GS,) and where the players can keep him under control. I don't think it matters who they get to Coach if and when Karl is let go, who the hell would take that job?

Yeah, I think coaching old players has always been waaaaay overstated on this board and in general. You don't give up a lengthy/sure-as-shit college contract to take a gamble coaching some old buddies at the pro-level.

If Cal goes back, its to a strong organization in a good position to compete for multiple titles.. Like a San Antonio or Chicago, Boston or LA. THEN, he may try to get some of the players back. That'd be the smart move.

I'm not a Karl fan, but there's no way I'd want to coach that bunch. Team full of head cases imo. I loved Cousins at UK, but he has always been immature at every level. Jesus couldn't get along with Rondo. Coaching that bunch would be a nightmare.

It is a long shot, in the immediate future anyway. They may also go out and try to get Durant next summer. With that said, I don't think Cal goes to the NBA. I'm not about to worry about that now.

Guy that wrote that article appears to be a freakin' tool. Overdrafted WCS? Ha.

Ditto for Rondo? He never even played for Cal.

If the GM did actually ask the players what he should do with Karl, that is just strange imo. But somehow I kind of doubt that even happened like the writer made it sound.

I love that Boogie cursed him out in front of everyone and then had to ask teammates if what he did was too much? Oh Boogie.

either Cal will be the Kings' coach and front office leader come summer 2016 or Brad Calipari will walk on to UK and Cal will retire at Kentucky. Think about it... Brad Calipari may end up being the most important recruit in UK history haha

Or more likely that ship has already completely sailed. Cal has turned down much better NBA jobs, more money, and total control in the recent past.

Got to remember what started today. Just some idiots way to try to sway some kid from choosing UK.

Na, nothing yet.. but there have always been talks, and I would never count Morey/Houston out. I'm a biased fan, but dare I say Houston would be the best fit for him? Under big-man McHale, around Hakeem, and playing for titles with Harden?

I'd say ship Dwight and Jones or Dwight and a 1st rounder for Demarcus.

Either way, the thoughts of Cousins on Houston...

I think Cal actually enjoys coaching brand new potential top 5 picks every season. I believe him when he says he gets enjoyment from the process, and I think he'd rather coach the next generation of John Walls or Anthony Davis types as opposed to rehashing the same coaching experience in a different venue.

That's bullcrap by Cousins but on the other hand it's a safe assumption Karl "needed" it. I really have no clue what the Kings organization ever thinks. Bringing a difficult to play for George Karl with a roster featuring guys with a history of being difficult to coach in Cousins and Rondo (and Gay isn't exactly a coaches dream by any stretch of the imagination). What the hell did they think would happen?

For Cal to leave, it would take a Phil Jackson like set of superstars waiting on him to enter and roll the ball out there.

He already knows how much a grind the NBA is......not that he's not a workaholic.

I still think Cal has his sites on the UCLA record......there are crazier ideas out there.

Just think what Boogie could have become had he been drafted by the Spurs?

Tim Duncan to mentor him and the most solid organization in the NBA.

I could see Cousin going to some of the big name cities. Lakers will probably go all out for Cousin.

Think Cal loves all his ex players, Cousins has a special relationship with him but of all the players that Cal would want to coach is Anthony Davis. He is a top 1-2 talent in league or top 3 but younger than Curry and Lebron. I think in 5 years or so that he may go coach AD. That is the guy you have to worry about, AD would be the dream of every coach out there. That team is not very good so they need some help

Cousins cursing out the head coach in front of the team and some of you condone that because he played at UK? Sorry, that is not acceptable in any setting. I thought Cousins turned on corner on his immaturity, guess not. Seems like he has a lot of growing up to do. I don't care if he puts up 30 and 20 each night, that is BS in my opinion.
