Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of Moss either. Doesn't irritate me or anything, but like you said he's too dry. That's the problem I had with Macy. He always made good points, but it was just delivered in a boring style.

I thought Matt killed the broadcast. He had good insight to the opposing team. He provided good commentary on the cats,, both individual and as a whole.
I've always felt that the hate stems from his success. He gets paid to be a UK fan/talk about basketball. Most the fans on here think they know more about UK basketball than anyone else. They resent him for having that job.
Matt talks very matter of factly as if he's the end all be all sometimes. Which can be annoying, but it's his show. Then he talks about things that are commonly known on the message boards as if they're news. But, for 85 year old grandpa Joe, it might be. There's a lot more fans that listen to the show than do the message boards/twitter.
I think the ability to do a UK centric radio show is amazing. You've only got so much sports news per day. And when it's baseball season only...there aint much. So, it's a real tribute to Matt and Ryan that they're able to consistently run a show.

For the fans that hate Jones, you might as well get over the hate. It's obvious Jones is going to be around the UK program for a long time to come. The man is eventually going to work himself into a very good and important role broadcasting Kentucky basketball games in the future. I don't care either way about Jones.
I keep seeing variations of this - I'm not convinced. I suppose there are some who don't like the guy from sheer jealousy, but can it be that many? Like you said, he's annoying at times. He's also rude and condescending sometimes - aren't those unattractive traits a sufficient explanation for why some don't like the guy? Reminds me of the immediate assumption many make of criticism about Tubby - can't it be that a lot of fans simply thought he underachieved?
Having said all that, agree that I've never understood the level of vitriol. Maybe you're right. Heh....
Teenage humor? The correct term is College humor. But that out of the way is that , I thought the group did great.
I really loved the humor all 3 brought to the telecast together. Made it unique.
When they were talking about Allen Field House and Ravi told Matt "I don't want to talk about it" cracked me up big time.
I absolutely want SEC network to use this crew for every mid major game and exb game we do from here on out.

I really want to like Matt but his condescending attitude on the radio show toward some people really gets on my nerves. I understand some of the callers are clueless but sometimes he needs to handle himself a little more professionally.
So if to me Matt sounds like Fran Drescher and comes across as arrogant and runs his mouth too much then that means I am jealous of him?
I'm quite sure my house is bigger, my car is nicer, and that I make far more money than Jones does.... not sure what in the hell I am supposed to be jealous about? Because a guy with a Duke law degree has managed to get a kid's job hovering around UK athletics? I think a 30 something acting like a college kid is pathetic, myself, not sure what or how that is perceived as jealous?
That said, my major point was that Ravi is great and actually surprised me as to just how good he is. He deserves a much better gig and I hope he gets it. Heck, after suffering through the previous game and those terrible announcers Ravi was like listening to the old MNF crew. He is as good or better than the vast majority of the ESPN guys covering the games.

I complimented Ravi many times on my postgame show, regular radio show, on the broadcast and on Twitter. He is great and I thought really did an excellent job. I was truly happy about the broadcast and hope we get to do some more down the road.
And I am a momma's boy. She is great.

That's a fair post and perhaps, no certainly, I am too harsh in my judgment. After thinking about it I think it is more along the lines of not seeing a whole lot of talent out of Matt and I bet that the bulk of the people that react negatively to him (there are many) may be doing so because they simply don't think he deserves the breaks he has gotten. For me, also, there is the fact that I think it is a huge waste of a Duke law degree to be doing what he is doing.
So I wouldn't call that jealousy but I can see how it could be characterized as such. I see a kid like Ravi trying to make his way and he has all the tools and that is somebody I would like to see do well. But I guess I am judging Matt too harshly simply because I don't think he deserves the opportunities he's been given, I don't like the tone of his board as I have always found it condescending in a backhanded way to UK fans.
The funny thing is, the one area where most UK fans really can't stand him is in his politics because I think much the same way he does as I am not a Republican or ever will be. So I hope he puts that Duke law degree to some real public good and helps Kentucky out of the total mess it finds itself in politically. That said I will shut up about politics now.
Jones has done well, created a hugely successful blog, and has by his own account fulfilled a dream of his in covering UK. Good on him but I just don't like his one air personality. Sorry.
Also keep in mind that I hate Duke with a passion that is unrivaled by any team including UL, Indiana, or any other sport. I absolutely despise Duke so that may be bleeding over onto Jones somewhat.
I have no problem with Jones. He seems like a decent chap and does a good job with KSR. I kind of like his "my view is the right view" attitude. I do have a problem, however, with any otherwise self-respecting human who might ask him for his autograph as if it were something special to obtain. That's just weird, even when it comes to real celebrities.

Hell, if Mike Patrick can have a sports broadcasting job then anyone can. I hope Jones proves me wrong and becomes the voice of UK basketball because obviously he is not going to quit as he keeps coming back so that in itself is something to be admired.

Then you'll be happy to note that he practiced law with a large business law firm in Kentucky until he opened his own practice, which he stopped doing once ksr really took off.
And by all accounts (articles profiling him over the years), he worked his ass off for all the opportunities he's gotten, so it's unfair to say he doesn't deserve them.
I would accept Jones's "kids job" for minimum wage and be happy about it.

I bet Bodvar also hates the person who invented the Snuggy because they had the most obvious idea ever. Bodvar, your rant against Jones oozes jealousy. Not because of the house or money or that... but because he's close to the UK program and has a fun job.

the "oh definitely" and "most definitely" ....are things UK teaches players to say .... just go back over the past 20 years and most of them have used those words in interviews lol. But Ravi needs to switch it up. eventually he will
Talent-wise not work-wise. I don't think Matt has the talent/voice for announcing games as his voice is grating to me. Others may think he sounds like a seductress and heals canker sores with nothing other than his soulful melody. His pipes reduce Pavarotti to a mere carnival barker hocking snake oil to steel working rubes. Angels weep at his every annunciation and form a layer of fine glistening dew upon every parked car in downtown every time he calls a game.

Maybe one day he will announce a game on a national TV (and I'd be OK with that) but it hasn't happened yet.
