The idea that we’re just in a small dip for the basketball program.

I keep seeing posters acting like the last three years really aren’t that far off from UK’s expectations. That it’s just a small dip, and that it’s more reflective of college basketball changing than UK. In reality, we’ve achieved some historical lows in the last three years:
  • Worst single season W-L record in modern history (talking literal decades on decades)
  • First time in three decades we’ve missed any post season tournament berth altogether
  • From what I can tell, longest stretch without placing 1st in the SEC by a single UK coach in decades
  • Second least amount of tourney wins in a three year period by a single UK coach in decades (first would be the one and only BCG, although he only coached here for two years)
  • 1-4 in our last 5 SEC Tournament games played, our worst record in any 5-game span in the SEC Tournament in school history
If you’re going to continue to defend this product, you at least need to actually acknowledge just how bad it’s been; not pretend like we’re knocking on the door to the level of success we expect.
