If you felt pretty good about getting Donovan when the Bulls' season ends, I would sacrifice next season's roster to get Donovan, vs hiring a lesser coach sooner and maybe winning a few more games next year.

Bulls play-in game is April 17th, something like that. Most likely they won't last long in the playoffs. Can Mitch wait that long, I don't think he can. UK needs to go after portal players, and see what currently players might stay.

But......as someone else posted CM Newton waiting for Rick Pitino to finish out with the NY Knicks back in 1989. That worked out pretty well all things considered.

The question is.......does Donovan REALLY want the job this time or not. This would be the 3rd time UK has asked him to the prom and he's turned UK down. Of course before his kids were young and didn't want to uproot his family.

And I would advise you to not put too much stock into coaches making generic statements about the future of their programs and universities trying to protect their coaches. There's a lot of incentive to make a statement that paints the picture that your coach turned down UK right now.

I guess we're all assuming until it plays out but until I hear Mitch or one of the better candidates say otherwise, I'm inclined to lean on Mitch's history on these sort of things.

I hope Mitch's history holds up in this hire. He has had way more hits than misses.
