I don’t think any of us hate Russians. It’s the dictatorship in Russia that’s hated.
Once again, Russians have allowed themselves to fall under the control of a psychopathic man who is using them as a battering ram against the “western values” that he hates. He wants to revive the Russian imperialistic state and reestablish a region dominated by Russia.
Rather than hate Russians, we should pity them for being so conditioned to being ruled by a ruthless dictator. You’d think their history would have taught them to reject authoritarian rule but it seems to have had just the opposite effect.
For the record.... after the coup in 2014 certain areas had protest against the president being violently removed from office. This video shows what the nationalistic militias did to people who didn't want to accept EU membership and rejection of all things Russian. Really looking forward to non hypocritical takes on this video.
What people believe when it is so easily disprovable is a continuing source of amusement to me. That Russia is BFF's with the Republican Party is no real surprise since the Russians have been inundating the Republican Party with cash at least since the Reagan administration via the NRA among other ways and other campaigns.

When Putin talks about existential threats to Russia he is in effect talking about the very real and very direct threat the United States poses to Russian Communism. In the grand scheme of global public relations there is no more clear winner than Democracy over Communism. Arab Spring and Ukraine. Given the choice people all over the world choose freedom every single time even in the face of recent authoritarian trends.
Putin went into Ukraine because it is becoming almost impossible for the Russian people to believe Putin is offering them a better way of life than that of ubiquitous luxurious Western standards and it was being painfully proven in real time in Ukraine. Russian propaganda at every turn attempts to fight back by casting the West as decadent and evil while portraying Putin almost mythically as a Trumpian "only I can save us" living martyr. Putin is fighting a losing battle with a West he despises truly. Ukraine was his chance to show it in real time. Putin heroically saving Ukraine from evil decadent Western ways and their Nazi sympathizers. Take Ukraine or fall to the West was as clear as day to Putin.
In Republicans a long time ago the Russians found a very useful ally in a continuing long standing propaganda war. The Republican base is fueled by a useful hate that is easily stoked by skillful Russian hands and they are painfully oblivious to their useful idiocy. In turn they provide the Yang necessary for the very survival of the last real bastion of a dead system in a dead country with a feeble economy less than a tenth the size of our own that even by European standards is less than that of say, Italy.
Vladimir Putin abhors the West and seeks at every turn and in every way to stave off the inevitable fall of Russia to Western influence and affluence. The Republicans fawning over Putin despite that glaring obvious truth has been bought and paid for and you can see it even in this thread. Watch them fall all over themselves rationalizing it. Our single greatest enemy and they will not hesitate to publicly do his bidding. It couldn't be more obvious nor to them more oblivious. Look at any southern TV preacher and ask yourself who on earth would believe this crap but at the same time realize they are rolling in the dough. Ditto for Rasslin. Entire industries built on the same purposeful avoidance of reality.
Of course inevitably Russia will fall to the West and Putin will be killed because as hokey as it sounds truth will prevail and warts and all we have the greatest fairest system of Governance the world has ever known and a failed leaky communist system can never survive against that glaring truth even when aided and abetted by useful Republican stooges.

Zelensky by all Western standards is considered a great leader for his country that stood up when lesser men would have fled (or pretended they had bone spurs) at the risk of his life against our #1 global enemy. He's not doing anything different than Winston Churchill did in protecting England during a horrendously brutal onslaught by the Germans. Any leader that puts his own life so directly at risk in the face of overwhelming odds are celebrated in our culture, unless your entire party is carrying water for Vladimir Putin because he's such a generous benefactor for your political campaigns. Why else would the Republican Party wind up on the same side as Russia, China, and Iran in the war in Ukraine? Don't you find it the least bit troubling who's company you're keeping?
