It's obvious Cal has used this game to experiment feeding the post every possession. He thought Vandy was bad enough to try crap with and it's bit him in the ass. Our bigs aren't great post scorers, they're best with lobs with the exception of Dakari. Towns and Dakari are the only two that should be fed down low to score with post moves.

Our offense is best when the guards are going good and the bigs are in a support role, except for Towns are Dakari at times. Hell Booker hasn't even shot a 3. I just can't stand watching them throw it down low every possession. There's no DeMarcus to throw it to and let him work. It's just not who we are and it never will be with this team.

Its obvious you dont know this team. Cal PREACHES every game to THROW IT TO THE POST!!!!!

We aren't a good passing team. Our Bigs down low have stunk it up this game. Dakari and Karl have left a bunch of points on the floor.

I know he preaches it but he's obviously made it a point to throw it down low every possession this game. Look at the shooting numbers, whose shooting, and where the shots are at.

There's an abnormal amount of post entries and lack of outside shots. Like I said, this is an outside-in team, not an inside-out team. Our best low post scorer has the hands of a school girl and goes up to score like one as well. It's at the point where Dakari can only score if wide open, any contact knocks him off balanced. Towns is good but has been off lately.

This is another 30 point blow out if we play like normal with our guards doing the majority of the shooting.

Idk about 30, but probably 20 at least.

You're right probably 20 but the point remains the same. I pray Cal doesn't want to keep playing thru the post.

Have you even watched UK this year? It wasn't abnormal at all. Cal makes it a point to throw it down low every single game. During the last few games he has been telling them that if they don't feed the post, then they are coming out. Tonight is how UK has been playing; inside-out. Nothing has changed.

The reasons for the lack of outside shots are simple basketball knowledge. When UK throws it down low, most teams double the bigs, then the bigs kicks it out to the open shooters. Well, tonight, Vandy didn't do that, instead they did the opposite.

Their guards stayed home on the shooters, and they allowed their bigs to play defense one and one, so there were no open shooters to kick it out to.Unfortunately UK's bigs couldn't take advantage of the one on one situations. It's really simple. I can't believe someone is even having to explain it to you.

johnson got his shot blocked 3 times rushing the same move they had it timed. looked like he got fouled twice down the stretch though. he had made four straight free throws but couldn't get back to the line. he had one bricked shot that i saw. he's a valuable asset, he just needs to learn to relax mentally when he gets the ball. he's getting position all the time now.

wasn't it just Saturday all our threads were talking about great interior passing and feeds?

Yes indeed. The difference tonight was that the bigs couldn't finish at the rim. That, and the careless turnovers, is what made this game close. No need for everyone to freak out.

It was obvious Stallings knew Johnson could not finish against his bigs. He baited DJ in to thinking he could score with his 3" vertical and shoulder height release

I sense a lack of appreciation for Shaqari Johnson's game. You people want him to be a finesse big with high rising skills who can explosively throw down.

But that's not Dakari Johnson. He's never going to be that. He is a 7 foot wrecking ball that bullies his way to getting things done. Teaching him to be something else is a disservice. He should embrace it and go more in that direction.

He's tries to finesse everything he puts up. That's his problem. If Dakari would just go up strong and not shy away from contact he would be fine.

And if anybody thinks they didn't throw the ball down low more than normal tonight then you're the moron.
