Statement from Stools

I don’t think he has his hand in the offense. The offense is just that bad all by itself
You can't play offense to keep the defense off the field and be productive. Coen was a good offensive coordinator and apparently the guy at Miami was pretty good too. We have preached tempo for years now and still snap the ball at the end of the play clock. Either the OC picks have changed their philosophy or Stoops wants them to slow down.

His hands are deep in there. Don’t kid yourself

This is why our fb program will never be good. The expectations are 6-6 and anything beyond that we are lucky. Idk who stoops replacement would be but he capped out on his potential terry’s last season. That’s it. He’s not getting back to a decent sec team. He’s never gonna make a run at the sec or a playoff. Stoops rep is damaged by his awful approach to offense. Even when we were winning it was some ugly fb. Those teams if we had an efficient offense we are a top 10 team. The program is broke and if he loses big dawg to a head job stoops will be lost. He may have to be his brother to help him out. Or just sell his bourbon, rake in the $$$$ like Cal.

How can you watch this offense for Stoops tenure and not see the common denominator?? We've had countless coordinators and our offense is always similar.

He absolutely makes sure we play a conservative, boring, ineffective offense.

Stoops has peaked here. Time to go. Sumrall or bust

He’s adamant he doesn’t meddle in it as are his assistant coaches. If you just go and look at our past OCs you can see distinct differences in all of them. Contrary to what many say we do not run the same offense year after year. Just because our offense is mostly ineffective doesn’t mean it’s the same stuff. It just means we as a program suck at offense. Stoops is the common denominator. I just think he lacks vision on that side of the ball and outside of coen he makes bad hires and bad decisions. But I don’t think he’s influencing the plays during the game as much as everyone says. He just puts people in place that will execute his vision for offense. We always seem to be shoving a round peg into a square hole.

This year was a talent issue, primarily on the O line, with a below average qb and OC. The results track.

He does not ‘call plays’ and when he asserts he doesn’t meddle he’s saying it like he doesn’t get into it to that level. But he clearly sets parameters of how he wants things played. The most obvious example of that is Shannon Dawson. They butted heads almost immediately beginning the season over playcalling aggression etc. they mutually parted and of course he beat us the next season as OC at So Miss.

Wrong. 100%.

We are playing slow and not taking chances, so the defense can rest. We don’t need fast 3 and outs.

I don’t interfere, but of course I’m involved in the overall scheme that we run. And give advice where needed.

And no AC is going say different and get known that way.

I guess you really think that our plodding offense was what everyone of those OCs wanted.

You can’t be that daft.

So we agree. He has his vision for his offense but he doesn’t actually call the plays.

It’s not just the wins and losses. His teams are undisciplined and he has totally missed on evaluating key positions, particularly on offense. He is a poor manager on the sidelines and makes very few adjustments during the game. It also is apparent that preparation is lacking, whether it has to do with motivating or delegating responsibility for plays.

Stoops needs to take a page from Mark Pope’s handbook - give the player responsibility for how they will contribute to the team from one game to the next. Give the players assignments that they have to work on prior to the game - they should be invested in the outcome.

When a coach starts complaining and shifting blame to everyone and everything else, that is a clear sign of burn out. Jm2cents
