Sports radio in louisville

I generally think the Afternoon Underdogs do a pretty good job. They take some shots at UK but they're okay.

I have a bigger issue on these shows when UK fans call in. (And I'm assuming they're UK fans because I see the same kinds of opinions from time to time on these boards.) Lachlan had a regular caller who would call in and just seemed like the most cynical, depressed, awful fan ever. His calls were always these endless breakdowns of everything that's wrong with Cal and UK. I have less of a problem with UofL fans than guys like that.

I listen to Drew Deener at times as well, and when he has Billy Reed on it's interesting. Reed fashions himself as a kind of crusader of the game and pines for the days when basketball was pure. He hates Cal and said the other day that he would "Much prefer the way Pitino does things than the guy up the road." (This was in a discussion about Louisville struggling because they didn't have top flight talent.) Deener cut in with a deadpan, "I just want to win."

I imagine Reed was wearing his UL jacket at the time.

Probably so, although it's funny that he and Deener will go back and forth pretty good about how good UofL is. Deener is a homer and believes anything's possible; Reed has claimed that there's something wrong with Louisville. That's pretty good radio.

But Reed is one of these guys who will attack callers if they disagree with him. Doesn't matter if it's a UofL fan, UK fan, or just somebody tossing out an opinion. He's volatile and I'd say in his prime he was absolutely intolerable to be in a room with. One of those guys who will absolutely cut off an opinion and tell you how it really is.

Reed was always arrogant. You'd think bottoming out - the alcoholism, the DUIs, the career free fall from SI to the CJ to Louisville Sports Report to Bugtussle Times to fishwrap - would've introduced some humility, maybe even meekness. Guess not. And he's so bent out of shape about UK and the whole CM Newton/Lee Todd/house in Bahamas thing that no one should ever listen to any opinion he has about anything pertaining to UK.
