I don't think Vitale's even their No. 1 color guy anymore. I think the No. 1 pairing last year was Shulman & Bilas. So instead of a "Duke lover"; you get an ex-Duke player instead.

Bilas is great though. I don't mind one bit when he is calling games.
I think the slurping, along with the officals, are over the top quite a bit. Sounds like making excuses long before the game is even played.
Bilas is the best in the game. I'll take him calling our games every day and twice on Saturdays.
He is, but until he starts being honest about UNCheat, he needs to stop opining about how the NCAA gets everything wrong.
Guess I'm the only one on here that actually likes Dickey V. By all accounts, he's a terrific person who gives to many charities and has a wonderful passion for the game. Personally, I'll overlook his occasional over-zealousness. When he gets on his Duke bandwagon, I'll just give him a few minutes and then he'll be hyping Cal and the Cats.

Bilas is the ESPN #1 now, why is UK Duke the early game? That's like having Nickleback open for Metallica. Next they'll be showing football final four playoffs on New Year's Eve or something crazy.
Those of us with jobs with a relatively early wake-up would MUCH rather be an earlier game than a late one! Ugh, no thanks! Personally I don't care if people in California can see a game that matters most to people in Kentucky and New Jer... er, North Carolina

Just inconvenient for us UK fans in California with jobs, have to go media silent and DVR to catch up by half.
Nope you’re not the only one. I'm fine with Vital as well. Just a guy trying to make aliving at something he enjoys doing. If he's guilty of anything, he goes a little overboard in trying to please too many people. Like everyone else in this business, its entertainment and he's an entertainer. We as fans can take what we wish from him or simply let it go. I do think ESPN is trying to phase Vital out to a degree. He's getting older and the terminologies that he uses is getting stall and overly repetitive. That’s just my opinion.
I think it makes sense to have the game with two teams in the Eastern time zone play early. That said, they rarely do what makes sense. If I had to guess I'd say K asked for the early slot. I remember a time when Bobby Knight refused to play the late game.
