The fighting that inevitably results in any thread like this is ridiculous. For some reason, whenever people post an opinion that is fairly reasonable, but debatable, the knives come out and the OP is either a sunshine pumper or a hater. A few posters have earned that kind of a response, but the vast majority of us are regular fans who just have different takes on things. I don't know why some people immediately jump to insults instead of civil discourse though.

You know, after he hit 2 of those turn around jumpers I sat up and thought "well, those looked good" but he hit three more from different areas of the floor and I stood up and let loose a little.
He really has a great shooting touch. Defenses are going to have to come out and guard him. Dam he's good.

I was pretty hard on Skal last night though I did disclaim it with the knowledge the young man didn't really play much last year. So tonight I'll give him his due. Great game big fella!

He didn't swat at the ball tonight like he was trying to volley ball spike it so that was also an improvement.

Just like every year it looks like the guys are going to have to put up with refs that take "new rules" too far. Give tge refs a couple weeks for them to figure it out. I bring this up because it's a really tough adjustment to make when these kids are trying to play aggressive on D. I thought Skal got called for a couple of real chippies last night. Even with that he looked better on D that he did Friday night. He is going to be a good one on both ends of the court.

Skal was doing things last night I've never seen another player his size at UK do.

The competition has to be factored in, but all these guys play against mid-majors and I've never seen anything like that. People say of big men that they have "good touch." Davis, Cousins, and KAT all had good touch.

Skal is different. Skal can shoot. And his length makes him incredibly dangerous because he obviously can just go up over people.

Make sure you read this through because I have a good point to this.
Bottom line, Skal was very underwhelming tonight. He was timid, he missed defensive rotations that resulted in easy Albany buckets (as did all of our guys), he shy'd away from contact and he was way late on some easy blocks. He was a total no show in the first half but showed some things in the second half.
Now, the reason why I bring this up now is because, just like AD and Cuz, watch what Cal and Payne do with this kid. Too many of our idiot rival fans say that these players are pro's before they come to UK. Nobody ever seems to remember what these kids look like in the first half of the season. Well, pay attention haters because Skal is far from an NBA player right now.
