Since you've joined Rafters.....

I got banned a month in March for speaking truth to the mod powers. A dozen folks were saying things like if Lebron couldn't play basketball he'd be in jail. That kind of racism. I stood up against that post and got banned. And It kind of killed some small soul part of me, Coming back, I have much less interest in the crap on here or waisting my time reading it.

Was away for 4 days last week while on a cruise. Got on Saturday in New Orleans and nothing had changed. Just the same typical rafters shenanigans.

Stayed away from the board and UK basketball for much of the 2020-2021 season. It was a waste of time to invest in the on-court product and listen to this board's Polyannas spin the train wreck into anything positive.

Drifts of time. Some of our posters get in a weird cycle sometimes with insecurity, wanting to be combative, etc. That’s when I just kind of lose track of it for a while.

Joined in May of 2019, so I suppose you can blame me for the last few seasons. Wish I had found/knew about this place sooner... Could only imagine the fun on this board during that 2014 run, for example. Really enjoy a lot of the conversations here, and hoping our CATS can help us put away some of the doom and gloom this coming season. Anyway, I'd say I take about a week off after the CATS lose in the tournament.

When we are winning, it’s definitely a better place.

Usually a week and it's after a devasting loss.... not interested in the doom and gloom posts.
I’m that way after a season ending loss. Or especially so in the last couple of seasons. Cal is just not the same dude anymore and it’s obvious. Here’s hoping he has a miracle this year but I’m not holding my breath.

Same length for me. About a week or so.

I joined n 2017 looking for a place to talk basketball more. But I’ve been a UK fan since I knew what sports were. It’s in the family so I grew up with it. Been lots of ups and downs.

I wasn’t too overly down on Cal until after the Auburn choke in the 2018 tourney. It’s been pretty obvious since then he’s not the same dude. We had a glimmer of hope the year before last. But we know how that ended.

Here’s hoping for one last spark from Cal this year.

I think success in sports certainly comes in waves. We've had a negative snowball for sure in the last three years and seem somewhat snake bitten. No excuses. But I do think there's potential for a turnaround. Cal set the bar so high from 2010-2015. 17 and 19 we're disappointing endings to the seasons, but certainly title contenders... And I don't care what anyone tells me, the 2020 team had a real chance as well. But we obviously need to get back to the promised land soon.

2005-2006 - I did two tours to Iraq those years, the days were long and no real internet, but didn’t waste my time on RR with the time I had on line. I can’t really remember much of those years still. Of course I didn’t join until 2007, I was on some others under the Username BarnCat, not much of a poster then either.

I work long hours and it’s weeks at a time sometimes. It’s not as important as it used to be me, especially since the last several seasons.

I don’t know for sure . . . . sometimes a few hours and then a day or so. I keep coming here for good news, but lately there’s not been much.
I have noted that the board has become much more toxic in the last 5-6 years.

Joined under this account in 2014. I usually take some of the offseason off starting in June. I’ll be back in time for football. In that time I will disappear for a couple weeks at a time.

When I was younger and this stuff was life or death to me, I wouldn’t go 24 hours.

I’m still here way too much but I’ll stop for a week or so if I’m doing something. The good part about this site is that 1. It’s almost all text so it loads quick and 2. The ads don’t auto interrupt my sound if I’m listening to Spotify or what not.

And it’s easy to read on the toilet

Damn I've went months and months since i originally made the account but i was also a child when i made it. Since I've grown up and can hold the whole forum in my hand i check it pretty much every day

If that is exactly what was said on here then I'm failing to understand how that comment has anything to do with racism. I couldn't tell you how many times I've heard someone say "Well it's a good thing old so and so got that job because he would probably be in jail or dead by now if he hadn't" and the people they said it about were white. So to me it's more their opinion of the person not the race of the person. As a side note and before you label me as racist, I don't think Lebron would be in jail if he couldn't play basketball but that is just my opinion. I just don't like it when people want to blame racism for everything in life and thus actually diluting real racist issues because of racism fatigue.

I just looked at what you're talking about and you made 4 racist comments and 2 other stereotypical comments in the post that got you banned. I'd say a month was generous.

Honeymoon, 2009 (different screen name than this one). Gone for a week, didn't log on once. Didn't even look at my phone once.

Worthless race baiters should be permabanned

Take a lot more time off now because the program has become boring and the board far less interesting with the pro and con Cal people always insulting each other. But, I do check in once in awhile to see if there is any chance of some interesting news. Then, I'm off from here pretty quickly. Just not as fun a place any more.

What that sentence implies is that a smart, and ambitious person of color could never do anything in America with his career and life except go to jail, if he wasn't 6'9" and had no basketball skills. It disparages every person of color. It's like saying in 1965, as an SEC coach allegedly said, "I could win basketball games too if they let me recruit from the penitentiary."

2 1/2 years until getting back on board before last football season.
