I don't really keep up with a lot of other teams in college so i don't know how good they are but what are our chances against duke tuesday? im not saying im worried but then again im not confident either as we are obviously a young and untested team right now.

Duke is young and untested, too. Sorry to not give any hard hitting analysis, but what to expect Tuesday night is anyone's guess.

Duke lost their 4 best players, they have even less interior scoring than UK and their starting PG is a 17-year old true Freshman.

Like UK though, they have some experienced players who obviously have played in the biggest games and a ton of inexperienced talent.

I'm sure both are looking forward to see who shines on a big stage against other elite talents.

We're young, but so is Duke. Thornton, Ingram, Kennard, and Jeter are all newbies. Allen made a big impact int the NCAA Tournament last year, but played pretty sparingly most of the season--think Marcus Lee as a freshman. Matt Jones, Amile Jefferson, and Plumlee have some experience, but have historically been role players. The teams actually share quite a few synergies. A lot of talent, youthful high end players, and trying to forge their identies. It should be a good game that could go either way. If both teams play to their potential, I think UK is better though.

Overwhelm their very young PG Thornton and I don't see how we lose. Should be a good game with two young teams that will be a whole lot better in March.

Umm yes...the two teams we have played are projected to win their conference...I'm pretty sure albany won a tournament game last yr..and I think this one won 20 plus games last yr. Duke has played two deaf and blind schools.. not hard to find this info

Should be a good game. Both teams are young and untested. Nobody really knows how good either team is since it's so early in the season. Will be a great test for both teams, and will serve as a measuring stick moving forward. Both teams are clearly good. We'll find out how good on Tuesday.

Couple of things...

Thornton doesnt start for Duke and I doubt how we handle him off the bench will determine if we win or not. We have the edge at PG regardless.

These are their starters and who will play the most:

Plumlee
Jefferson
Jones
Allen
Ingram

Plumlee and Jefferson are definitely role players, however, we havent faced any real P5 bigs yet. These two are not threats to score but they do play defense and rebound very well. Jefferson is a high energy guy.

I think it comes down to the wings, will Briscoe and Murray show up or will Allen, Kennard, and Jones hit too many shots?

Skal will get his, I'm not terribly concerned about Ingram, even with his height advantage he will have a difficult time with Briscoe at both ends.

Agree with KY Kid:

"It should be a good game that could go either way. If both teams play to their potential, I think UK is better though."

This will be a hard game for us to win. It's one of those games that if we win I think that would mean more then a loss to them. If someone told you they knew how the game will go then they are full of it. Not even Cal or coach K can tell you what will happen. We'll get a better idea of how good both teams are or will be in a few weeks.

A loss will not hurt UK or DUKE, but it's a big game and will be nice to win.

Containing Grayson Allen is a must. Guy has been tremendous so far.

And Duke will let you score. They've let both teams they've played shoot over 40%; Bryant shot 48% last night.

So we're going to put up points. I think our guards are tougher and will win the battle of grit but with Duke you're always concerned with them hitting 10+ threes. If they do that it's going to be extremely hard to win.

So it was Kobi Bryant v Duke 1 v 5 and Bryant still shot nearly 50%?

I don't care if he put up 2 games in the 20's. He is still a turd that needs to do it against good comp without getting half his points from the free throw line playing at home.

The game is 50/50 and I think everyone else has already covered what to expect in this thread. So I will just say that I expect this game to be decided by less than seven points.

IMO this picture summarizes what could be the difference in the game, well known fact that Duke gets more than their fair share of the calls and with the new rules in play it opens the door for a UK Screw job by the Coach K nut hangers. If anybody breathes on a Dukie too heavily it'll be a foul,on the other hand the new rules should limit their flopping all over.

On paper both teams look pretty even at this point except Kentucky has faced better competition.I'll give the Cats a 4 point win if the Officials don't look like they are paid off

I dont get this?

If he were at UK he would be all world to all of us.

Good players go to the line a lot, and make free throws.

The kid is good, hopefully we can shut him down, but I see a big season for Allen and a decent draft pick.

As usual they probably feel like their outside shooting will be their strength, I can see them trying to get Skal in early foul trouble. Very similar to us but I would say that both teams will look very different in March.
