Meant SECNetwork +. Are we as a BBN going to be acceptable? From here, so far okay. Far from perfect but no crashes.

It worked fine running on my PS4. A couple times the picture briefly went to crap but overall looked pretty good...no issues. I know some on here will bitch up a storm with a regular season game being on this method...but I'll be at that game in person so I can avoid that on here that day.

Not sure. Tonight was frustrating because of technical issues with WatchESPN. Anyone get that to work with FireTV. Mine kept failing to authenticate even though it said that it did. I would enter the pin and it said Authentication successful and then before it could load the video I got an error saying failed to authenticate. I was able to pull it up on my laptop and the authentication worked so I am guessing WatchESPN is just broken on FireTV.

Read some where there is going to be more like this. This went well for me. A little lag and a some pixelation but mostly good quality from my laptop.
I do not have a REAL fast internet connection. How about the mobile?

Watched it without a hitch but there are a TON of older less computer literate members of the BBN that are furious tonight judging by social media.

It is far inferior to TV in resolution and smoothness. Still, if that is the only way to watch I'll take it. But, what is so frustrating is the fact that my SEC Alternate channel had nothing on the entire time. Why couldn't UK get the game on the SEC Alternate? If UK doesn't have the ability to sell a game to another partner when the primary contractors (e.g., ESPN & SEC Network, CBS, etc.) don't want to televise a game, then that is just poor contract negotiations on the part of UK athletics.

Yep. I have 2 SEC alternate channels. Just a logo running the whole time.

I've always been curious about Roku, do you just buy the thing to stream it, then pay a subscription like cable? How does it work?
That's pretty much right. It plugs into an HDMI jack and run on a wireless signal. It has a bunch of apps that are mostly free. You can pay for the programming you want. I use it for netflix, VUDU to stream HD movies, and times like this, for WatchESPN. The ESPN3 stuff is free of course, but tonight's game required you have a cable or satellite subscription that includes SEC Network. I have Direct TV for satellite and mediacom for internet, so it worked fine for me. If you have a good Internet signal, you won't have many problems.

I sat in my recliner in Winston Salem and watched my favorite team play an exhibition game on my 65" HD television. I'm cutting backflips. My Wake Forest friends are so jealous.

Thought it sucked. Video would freeze every few moments and had no sound. Figured I'd just try it again tomorrow evening. In Louisville with uverse (at 18 mgb) using a less than year old samsung smart tv and watchespn..... any ideas that could improve future use?

It's 2015 and Kentucky's first exhibition game can't even get on TV. Ridiculous!!! Had to watch on my phone. Tried hooking up a laptop to a TV through HDMI but with AT&T and Directv merging, couldn't even log into to my account. Reset passwords and everything, still couldn't watch on my laptop. So frustrating. Glad I saw the game in the end but it is ridiculous when open alternate channels could have aired this game, very aggravating. Shocked not every UK game is on TV because of the money factor from the largest fan base in college basketball viewing the game on TV. Live sports is the only reason I keep satellite TV.

Yeah and I am one of those older less computer literate members. I'm 70 years old and some of the tech stuff is out of my league. Wish this game was on SEC Alternate.

Terrible, froze numerous times, choppy feed most of the time, and lost sound a few times.......another call will be made to espn tomorrow

Same issue has to watch on my phone

Worked great for the most part. Just had a couple of times the picture messed up for a few seconds. The quality was pretty good. Looked near HD. The camera work was a little rough at times. The truck guys did a poor job with timing replays. Definitely wasn't their A team for broadcasting.

I know some people had issues with seeing the same commercials over and over. I didn't see repeat commercials, but I saw the same ones at different breaks in the action. I don't recall seeing the LG commercial at all and others saw it repetitively. I saw a Droid commercial about the phone with a shatter proof screen a number of times and the Erkel Scion commercial a handful of times. They need to try and mix it up a little more.

Overall it wasn't to bad for an internet only broadcast.

No complaints except for the repeated LG commercial. After about the 100th time seeing the rerun of it I became hypnotized and fell asleep. Need to watch the last 10 minutes or so of game action. Damn that commercial, maybe it was the inception guy

Be prepared for this hassle again on the 14th vs NJIT. It said SEC Network + for that one too. If you told me 10 years ago that I would have to watch the game on a phone, I would have thought you were just being sarcastic or you're a lunatic.

FYI - My resolution was perfect...as good as any HD show.
I'm glad for you - and I'm not being sarcastic about that. But many did not have that experience. Streaming for many (most?) still an inferior experience to cable TV production. And I just wonder why an open SEC Alternate channel was not an option.

This!!!!!! Btw there was 2 freaking alternate channels that were options and had NO programming, inexcusable

Hardware matters. My desktop is xp sp3 and wouldn't work satisfactorily with a stream link. Laptop with Windows 10 worked okay. Again, I do not have the best internet connection.

Same problem here! Can't understand why no sound on smart tv, but had sound on my laptop and picture was great a times and terrible quality at other times. I guess my high speed internet is not all that high. The bill is though!

Chromecasted it from my phone's Watch ESPN app to 55 inch TV.. Did Great!!!!

For those of you in a metro area, I am sure it was fine. For those of us out in the sticks with only satellite internet available (600mb/s max) it sucked very bad. Not to mention I used almost all my data limit watching a glitchy low resolution screen that looked like mine craft. If they keep this up, I will be canceling my dish package that I got to get the SEC Network.

I ran it off my laptop. Connected to tv with cable and used a Bose speaker hooked to computer because I didn't want to fool with hooking it up to the stereo. Same with you, the picture went blue a couple of times for about a second. Otherwise, picture was fine.

There were other options as well to stream this game.

I traveled the country for work starting in1979. The way I watched UK games was for my father to tape the game on VHS and overnight it to me the next day. Tonight was so much easier and better than that.

A lot of people will have problems streaming games online more because of their computers or old TV's more than their Internet. An HD video stream takes a good bit of processing power to actually display the image that is coming in over the internet. If you PC or laptop is from the Windows XP era, it could be struggling to keep up and you're going to have issues no matter how fast your internet is. This is where devices like a Roku, Chrome cast, and Apple TV come in handy. Think of them as just a small computer you plug into your TV, and connect to you WiFi, that is made to run apps like WatchESPN, Netflix, Hulu, and other services. You can get them for under $100 usually. Which is way cheaper than a new computer or laptop.

Old modems and routers can be big issues also, they have processors in them as well that need to be able to keep up with all the data coming in and out. Signal strength of the WiFi, old cables with kinks or bad spots causing packet loss. Even having fluorescent lights, or high voltage electrical outlets can cause interference in your internet quality.

There are tons of factors that could hurt the performance of streaming video, Netflix for example, will drop resolution from 1080p to 720p or lower to meet the performance of your internet, and what ever device you are using, to get a good steady picture. Most TV streams, like the game tonight, won't do that because they are just taking the TV feed and pushing it over the internet. Therefore, the quality of the video will suffer if either your internet or device can't keep up.

If you want to get super techie, you can learn about things like latency vs. throughput, QoS, packet sizes, and all kinds of nerd crap to help maximize your video streaming in your house.

Also, when games are streamed online, it's not any kind of different production or anything. They just take the feed from the arena and push it out over the internet instead of over the cable channels. They may have their B teams in for camera work and truck production for replays and stuff, but there isn't much of a difference in a TV broadcast versus an internet only broadcast.

@kywildcatsfannumber1 Next time just use one of the numerous streaming links offered on Rupp Rafter rather than signing in to WatchESPN.

Watched on my phone. My Roku is older and doesn't support the newer watch espn app. Thinking about upgrading to a newer roku. Picture and stream on my phone was good with twc. Would rather watch on the big screen though.

Watched on my Xbox One using ESPN App. No problems except a couple times it got blurry for a second. HD Quality for the most part.

On KSR last week, Matt gave an opinion as to why this game was online only that made sense. The regular season NJIT game will be online only because all of the SEC channels will be in use by football games. Online games are produced by UK, not ESPN. So, UK used this exhibition game as a trial run to get the bugs worked out before they jumped in head first with a regular season game.

I hope this isn't going to be a trend and will be like the past couple years where at least there were ways I could still watch it when I had it on Time Warner.
