Heading into the final 9-game stretch of the regular season, a few SEC teams find themselves on the proverbial NCAA bubble watch.
Bama and Tenn are in the tournament.
Beyond that, Auburn, Missouri, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Florida, Arkansas, and Miss State are the teams that may have some hope of making the Dance depending upon how they finish the year. That’s 7 teams competing for 3, maybe 4 spots in the tournament. Think it’s fair to say that the SEC tournament is going to “mean more” this year.
* Auburn plays Bama and Tenn twice each, on the road against UK, TXA&M, and Vandy, at home against Missouri, and Ole Miss … that’s a difficult stretch to finish the season.
* Missouri plays MissSt twice, on the road against Tenn, LSU, Auburn, and Georgia, and at home against S.Carolina, OleMiss, and TXA&M … I think Missouri wins its’ way in
* Texas A&M plays on the road against LSU, Missouri, MissSt, Ole Miss, and at home against Georgia, Auburn, Arkansas, Tenn, and Bama …. lot of opportunity to beat good teams at home.
* Kentucky plays Florida and Arkansas twice, on the road against Georgia and MissSt, and at home against Tenn, Auburn, and Vandy …it’s a manageable schedule for the Cats but they have to win
* Florida plays Kentucky and Vandy twice, on the road against Bama, Arkansas and Georgia, and at home against Ole Miss and LSU
* Arkansas plays Kentucky twice, on the road against Bama, Tenn, South Carolina, and Texas A&M, at home against MissSt, Florida, and Georgia
* Miss State plays Missouri twice, on the road against Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Vandy, and at home against LSU, Texas A&M, Kentucky, and South Carolina …a favorable schedule to finish the year.
I don’t know how it will ultimately shake out … but opportunity - or not - is there for any of those teams. You best bring your best every night or you will be staying home and not playing in the Dance.
