How likely do you think SEC officials are rethinking the idea of going to a 9 game league schedule? I mean the top teams cannabilized each other this year because of how difficult their schedules were. Only Texas has less than two losses and that's because they had a fairly manageable schedule.

If the SEC goes to a 9 game schedule they could be screwing themselves in the playoffs by only getting maybe 3 or 4 teams in instead of 5 teams that it deserves. Plus it will be rare they ever get the one seed because they will almost always have more losses than the B10 champ.

I think the SEC will only go to a 9 game schedule if the CFP is expanded to 16 or more teams. I think both of these things will happen. The B1G is already playing a 9 game schedule.

Schedule and post season will expand inevitably. Money and big TV/Media will dictate it.

The ratings for this year I’m sure are historic. New matchups, more teams in the post season picture…more interest from all fans specifically casual fans who may night have a die hard program or conference loyalty.

Same old conference schedules and same old teams in the NY6 and playoffs was getting stale.

The first couple of rankings this committee had one criteria for ranking it appeared. They caught so much heat they seemed to make some changes.

I think we need to have some standards for being on the selection committee. Why have athletic directors? 50 years ago yes most had a football background, today their business and marketing people. I know it wouldn't be impartial with college coaches selecting, but how about some NFL guys, 1 AD from each conference and 1 college president from each conference. This will likely upset any female posters here, but other than being the primary source of revenue, what does she know about football?

But reality is, only 2 teams whining about being omitted are South Carolina and Ole Miss, and Carolina really. Of course Bama would be the loudest if they were out, wait till Clemson wins tonight and listen to the Bama whine.

But it doesn't really matter how many are in, going to be complaining by the first couple left out regardless, could be 2 or 32.

Make the tourney 24 or 36 teams that way lots of teams can say they played in the play offs... lol
Yeah 16 is stupid for FB... It works for BB because of the way it plays an d how many games are played...
Why not play 24 games in the regular season and then see who is the last teams standing...

They need to have automatic qualifiers to the playoff. No other sport determines its postseason teams by a subjective committee.
Divide the SEC into (4) four team divisions and the winners get the automatic bid to the playoff.
4 from the SEC, 4 Big 10, 2 ACC, 2 Big 12 and 4 at-large choices for a total of 16.
As long as the SEC & Big 10 get automatically overweighted in whatever calculation/system is used then I'm ok with. If not, the SEC/Big10 teams will be punished for having more losses. The ACC & the Big 12 will have to accept that they are essentially minor league conferences which is the truth, but will they accept that?

That's what the FCS does -- 24 team bracket, top 8 byes. (Eastern Kentucky lost in the first round to Villanova, 22-17).

If FCS can do it, making next to no money, surely the FBS can do it ... and they will make gazillions.

That’s why you have to build in some at-large selections. I would make these at large bids based on w-l record and AP poll ranking.
You could have 6 bids from the ACC or Big 12 in my scenario. It also means that Notre Dame had better join a conference.

Under no circumstances should there ever be more games against the likes of Mercer and Western Kentucky or Charleston Southern types.

The college football season is so stupid with how many pointless games there are that are for nothing more than kicking the crap out of someone and selling tickets and hot dogs.

I hate the ranking system as it’s just based on bias. “Oh you beat this many ranked teams” doesn’t mean anything because why are they ranked? What makes them good?

Go to a standings system and get the humans out of decisions because with humans at the wheel, corruption and bias always rears its head.

I would love to get rid of conferences in general and I think 12 and 16 teams are way too many. Perfect scenario would be 8 teams to me but since they will inevitably expand it—- get rid of the conference title games, get rid of the byes, have set number of teams from each of the conferences get in based on the standings. Make it like the NFL.

I'd like 24.

That way we can get Noles cupcake bonanza included but also more legit teams. A win win for all parties.
