I lost a good friend three years ago, at age 54 who was in the Corps. He was also a real football nerd, often with a disc of fight songs playing in his truck. We had planned doing the first A & M game, but alas . . . .

His son is heading down with me and my traveling posse, though.

Sorry to hear about your friend, way too young, but nothing is promised, although a lot of us live like it is.
