Remember when you could at least count on Cal to teach and coach good defense?

This team hasn't defended all season.It;s a huge concern for sure.
He used to recruit the best athletes in the country regardless of skill. He’s pivoted from that and his defense has significantly dropped off because of it.
Two of the biggest defensive liabilities throughout the year have been Mitchell and Edwards. They played 36 and 32 minutes tonight.
If you are serious about defense and rebounding, you play Thiero more and these guys less. But what do I know - just a Bennie.
Thiero has really impressed me this year. Guy is a stud IMO. Hope to god he doesn't transfer. Whoever gets him is getting a piece to a title team.
I always thought Cal never got the credit he deserved for his Def. He got AAU scorers to play Def, as a team, and maybe for the first time ever for some of them. The Def is pretty bad right now, but I think Cal can get that tightened up. The Def is bad.
Mitchell will probably be ok, I think. I'm not so sure the same can be said for Edwards. Their Def roles are different. Mitchell is more of reaction and positioning. Edwards Def takes effort and some toughness. I mean they both need all those things. Just different types of Def is my point.
What I dont get is Cal had him on White the whole game. Edwards is probably our worst defender and was guarding their best player.
Why not try Ado on him?
