Steals is an impotant but often missed/forgotten stat. A Steal is better than a blocked shot, because it not only prevents a shot but in ensures possession (although I'd love to see a shot blocker just go up and catch the ball instead of swat it away). IMO, Steals > Rebounds > Blocked Shots > Assists

I think it’s relative. Steals because you gamble and get beaten back door a lot might not be great. Someone who blocks 1 shot for every 4 shots they alter may be doing even more good.

Oscar is not a complete basketball player.

He got exposed as a very poor defender this year. He was able to hide it in 21/22, but coaches realized they could score in the paint at will, right in his face, because he doesn't guard the rim, he backs off. Yes, he’s trying to stay out of foul trouble, but so is everyone else.

Problem is, he was doing it at the end of games when the game was on the line. Know why? Because he’s wired to get rebounds, not block shots.

He has way too many deficiencies to be considered a top 10 UK player of all time. That’s crazy.

You said Oscar wasn't in the top 10 all time UK players and I asked you to tell me about the other 9 (8) UK players who were better and also won NPOY.
My point is that NPOY means quite a bit and Oscars numbers the last two years certainly elevate him to at least be discussed as a top 10 UK player.
My more relevant question is, where would UK have been the last two seasons WITHOUT Oscar?
I understand he isn't Jamal Mashburn or John Wall, etc. But, Anthony Davis was NPOY and averaged a lot fewer points and rebounds compared to Oscar.
Obviously, AD's upside was fully realized when he got established in the NBA. And while Oscar may have a lower ceiling than guys like AD, Wall, Mashburn, etc. that doesn't make him any less of a player for the ages while at UK.
The attempts I see posted here that try to marginalize Oscar and diminish his importance to the last two UK teams is just ridiculous.

Won't argue that had Oscar not been on the last 2 teams that they would have been more mediocre than they were with him.Oscar isn't even half the defensive player that Davis was and UK has had several other bigs in the history of the program that had better seasons and didn't sniff a NPOY.If you think Oscar is top 10 material then it's ok,your entitled to your opinion just like I'm entitled to think he isn't.In the end it's all good
