Rather than regressing, John Calipari is on a recruiting roll — with more to come

You don’t comprehend very well. I’m tired of idiots like you twisting words around. I’ve been a defender and supporter of Cal since he was at freaking Memphis. You little arrogant piece of crap is not going to get away with lying about things I’ve posted. I’ll repeat this to your little feeble mind.

If Cal doesn’t win a second title at UK, the NATIONAL PERCEPTION will be that his tenure at Kentucky was a failure.

It will also be viewed by a lot of others that it was a failure.

I don’t know what rock you crawled out from under, but you probably should crawl back in.

The lack of respect you showed me is exactly what’s wrong with pieces of trash like you.

I put my money where my mouth is. I support UK athletics whether they suck or not. I’ve been a season ticket holder for 26 freaking years for our usually awful football team, and a season ticket holder for basketball for the last 8 seasons. I also support both the Women’s team and the baseball team. I’ve been to countless SEC, NCAA tournament games, not to mention every football bowl game since 1984.

I guarantee your loser ass hasn’t done crap when it comes to supporting UK.

If I haven’t earned a GD right to voice my freaking opinion on our program, then nobody has.
Cal will be considered a failure by some people like you no matter how many titles he wins. Maybe you would like to get Billy G back or maybe Pitino who was at Louisville for 16 years with 0 titles and left the school in shambles.

How many UK coaches prior to Cal won two titles? Does that mean we have had a history of failures since Rupp? Darn, I thought our program was elite.

*sad walk past red dog house*

Missing the point completely. No one said anything about failures. Reading is worthless without comprehension.

I don’t think anyone expected it, but most fans I know thought that Cal would have more than a single title after nine seasons. Jay Wright and Villanova have 2 titles in three seasons. Jay has neither the resources, or nearly the support that Cal has. Not to mention the talent over the last nine years.

It’s time Cal quits making excuses, and starts winning titles. He’s the second highest paid coach in CBB, with that good fortune, comes responsibility.
Get a grip on reality. Throw jay in but only use the last three years better use the last 9 like you are on Cal.

Missing the point entirely. Those coaches didn’t put 50 players in the NBA. And I called no one a failure.
What does that matter? Every coach has the ability to recruit. Cal has done better than 95 per cent of college coaches. That is all that matters.

Personally I don't give a Shit if rival fans, and apparently some of our fans, think his run is a failure without a second title. He got us back to being the "it" program. He's won more tournament games than any other coach since he became coach. He has double the final fours of the next closest team since he got here. He got us #8, and will get us #9.

Even if he doesn't I will cherish all the memories his teams gave us and he's the exact model of what a Kentucky coach should be. When he's gone and we come crashing back to reality, and it will happen, I can't wait to see some of your attitudes then. You guys think every coach would jump at the opportunity to coach here, when in fact very very few will wanna follow Cal.

This is the lie our fanbase has been led to believe. Sorry but everything fell perfectly this year and we stb. 75%?of our all time at Uk talent under cal sorry but he should already have 2. And it’s not just nova UNCheat has 2 in 10!years as does duke. Don’t even get me going on uconn or our run in the 90s.

He didn't say that. He said it will be SEEN as a failure, and rest assured, that's how most will view it. We ripped Dean Smith to shreds over winning 2 titles with all of those players. If Cal remains at UK 15+ with the kind of names he has, we will be defending his legacy until we're gone. I do not want that. Some people will tell you none of that matters, in truth it does.

We all understand that he's only got them for one year, that KAT wasn't the NBA KAT for his one season, that Booker and Ulis were green, but here's what the rest of college fans and casual people will see

Wall
Bledsoe
Cousins
Patterson
Knight
Randle
AD
MKG
KAT
2015
BAM
Fox
Etc

And one title.

He needs his second ring badly. I think he will.

So calling me names is your way of discussing this. I have been a fan of Ky sports for over 50 years and have traveled many miles to see them play.
I never said you were stupid I said your statement was stupid. who cares what others perceive.

If you want to talk about failures talk about about the whole college NCAA system. It is nothing but a socialist communist system that doesn’t care one bit of the results as long as they can make money and produce anti-capitalist to permeate our great country.

Coach Cal is one of the few coaches that is doing what a college is supposed to do for a kid. To prepare kids for a profession and make money for themselves and not the colleges.

So if you thought I was attacking your fandom you are mistaken. I just said if you think Cal is a failure or even viewed as one was a stiupid statement when he is one of the few coaches that are doing it correctly.

Id say if he ended it today, the majority of college basketball fans would say he somewhat failed with the talent. Theybwouod say it for multiple reasons, including the fact that Kentucky is universally hated.

Dude, I just responded. He didn't say it exactly how you put it. I was expanding on his broader point as I read it, that some will view it as failure and we will be defending it. We could just avoid it and hang a few more?

Lol at people calling the ncaa a communist system. That'll get those evil traditionalist who think college shouldn't be professionalized to shut it. Lol.

Cal needs a 2nd championship. I'm getting really tired of reading kev69 turn every thread into the same discussion while acting like everyone who disagrees with him is beneath him and an idiot.

So please Cal, get PJ, Vanderbilt, and Gabriel back this year, sign Wiseman, Carey, and the rest of the top 5 for the next year (so that can end the "Cal can't sign top 5 guys anymore" argument), and win the 2019 and/or 2020 championship.

Then we start "Cal needs a 3rd/4th championship" threads in 2025 unless of course he wins 3rd/4th by then. Then we can postpone "Cal needs a 4th/5th championship" threads until 2029.

"MASSIVE disappointment" if he doesn't meet your standard. yeah, that's not calling someone a failure at all......

Well, you can keep beating that drum all you want, but it's not going to change the fact that until he wins a second title, Cals tenure here will be viewed as a failure. You can keep bring up the history before he got here all you want also, but he's making a ton of money to do better than the coaches before him. (Take Coach Rupp out of this discussion)

that is the single dumbest thing i have ever read on this board

Really? I’m going to explain this to you again, because you seem to have a real hardon for me for no good reason.(Well, I am kind of sexy)

There’s not another Coach that I can think of that I want here more than Cal.

John Vincent Calipari. He’s made for this tough job, and he’s been more successful than any coach we’ve had here, including Adolph Rupp.
Rupp had 4 titles, but he also had 39 years to accomplish those championships. I think we’ll all agree that if Cal had 30 more years left to coach here, he would win at least three more titles.

I LOVE having Cal as our coach. I’m not sure why I have to keep saying that. But, unlike some of you think, he’s not perfect. No one is.

For the thousandth time, if Cal leaves UK without a second title, THE NATIONAL PERCEPTION WILL BE THAT HIS LEGACY HERE WAS A FAILURE.

I think Cal would be disappointed if he leaves without a second title.

OK, Sunshine Pumpers, listen up:

Cal's going to put 50 players in the NBA. His success in that regard will be unparalleled. IF he never wins another title, he won't be considered a failure -- that's a big, ugly word. BUT, it will, and should be, considered a MASSIVE disappointment. And his legacy will suffer, like it or not.

Feel free to bash. But you will be wrong and I will be right.
So, so wrong.

It’s not really worth a response to an intellectually challenged soul like yourself, but since you have the comprehension capacity of a five year old, I will say it again. On second thought, you’re not going to comprehend any way.

Kev, you and I get along well. We may differ on some things but let me ask you this- do you think UK was screwed by Higgins in 2017? Because I firmly believe whoever won the UK UNC game was going to be NCAA champions that year. I usually despise talking about refs- it’s a cop out. But there was no doubt in my mind Higgins deliberately affected that game. That every well may have been Cal’s second title you speak of.

Every team that loses can always go back and show some calls that made you lose. It is not a perfect science. I hate Higgins, but to blame losing on a ref is just making excuses, to win you have to improvise, adapt, overcome, if you can’t, you go home. And that is very hard to do with freshmen. They simply do not have the experience to call upon. That is why I doubt Cal will win another title as long as he loses 5-6 guys every year and has to rely so much on freshmen.

Higgins overtly and purposely affected the game. His foul calls directly affected our best players not being in the game. You aren’t goinh to win a regional final like that. I don’t care how many adjustments a coach makes.

So why is it you think his bosses let to continue to call games and give him an award?

Why is it that UNC got away with 20 plus years of serial cheating and didn’t get any penalties?
Because the NCAA and the Presidents of most universities did not want the enforcement wing to have any say in what courses the schools set up. And they did not want an extended legal fight.

Now answer my question.

Because the NCAA hates Cal and doesn’t care much for U.K. either. What Higgins did was wrong. Just like what UNC did was wrong. Just because they aren’t punished doesn’t change those facts.

I agree. UNC should have had 18 years of wins vacated and Higgins should be fired but we have learn to deal with it. If you know what you are up against you compensate for it. Overcoming bias will not happen with 5 freshmen playing the most minutes. They do not the experience to call upon.

You are the one that is a failure. Cal will never be considered a failure at Kentucky by anyone that is an intelligent fan.

Thanks for the usual, condescending first part of your post. Couldn't have imagined that is how another reply from you would have started. I also don't need another explanation on this as I've read many, many of your other posts saying the same thing.

I don't dislike you as a poster. I've read your posts long before I started posting and always thought you were a pretty good poster. I don't necessarily disagree with you completely either. However, it just gets old reading the same thing over and over in every thread and seeing you berate anyone who disagrees with you.

I agree that Cal would be extremely disappointed without a second title, and I don't think that will happen. Coach K didn't win his first title until his 11th season with Duke. He won his 3rd 9 seasons after his 2nd. He won his 4th 9 seasons after his 3rd. That's 18 years to win 2 championships. Hall of fame coach Rick Pitino (who has been considered a top 3-5 coach for most of his coaching career) has only won 1 NCAA championship [winking]. Cal could win the next two championships if things fall right for UK. One thing about the NCAA tournament is that the best team often doesn't win the tournament.

I believe we should let things play out another few seasons before we start questioning whether or not Cal will only win one championship at UK.
