New season is upon us. Finally, now that the disappointment of the ending to last year's incredible run has finally begun to fade for me (the start of a new season usually has this effect upon me) I think I can put some things in proper perspective and take a deep smile for what the future holds.
Last season will always have a special place in my heart. I will consider that team a "great" UK team, even though they didn't win the title and go an ultra-once in a lifetime special 40-0. For now, 38-1 (while still a ring of disappointment) makes me wryly smile at what could have been, but still makes me proud to be a member of BBN and consider that tream a truly special - GREAT - Kentucky basketball team.
Many of you may know I think the term "great" gets thrown around too often in sports, but I'm comfortable labelling last year's team as that, sans title.
So we look forward to a great new year, and watching the first exhibition game makes me giddy for (what, yet again, under the master coaching of Coach Cal) WHAT COULD BE YET ANOTHER GREAT SEASON. (man, aren't we spoiled in this third Golden age of Kentucky hoops, everyone?)
OK, so I'm getting used to the new faces and numbers they wear. And another thing I'm getting used to..........
The new board format and the way it displays and everything about the site. To be honest, I hated it at first, and couldn't post here right after the changes, cause' I'm getting older and grow more and more accustomed to things staying in a way I can better deal with.
The new board was one of those things that just took an extra long period of time for me to adapt to, especially that and getting over the way last season ended. I just wanted that team to win the title and go 40-0 so BADLY!!! (grr)
OK, so long post short :
New year looks great.
IU still sucks.
The hell UofLOL is going thru makes every day great to wake up to (even though the cancer in my head makes that waking up progressively more hard)
I like the synergy with us being (#2 - or #1-a.) to UNC, like in 2012. I like the synergy and how that ended up that year. Good KARMA, GOOD KARMA, I say!
I like our Rafters even better, new people and old posters alike. (love all of you!)
And best of all ... we're all kickin' it for another year.
Here's to the best of health to you and yours as we head into another awesome ride!
