The last few mainstream hires, I've read that there is a guaranteed minimum NIL either indicated as part of a contract or more informally as part of the package for new coaches. With Calipari at Arkansas, it has been mentioned that there is a guaranteed 6 million NIL available.
My question is this. What does it actually mean for a school to "guarantee" NIL? I'd take it to mean that contractually big donors must donate a minimum of 6 million annually in the case of Arkansas?
That seems like it'd be unenforceable since predicated on external parties to the contract, but also, if this is the case and this demand is standard practice for high major coaches, does this also mean that our NIL questions are potentially solved if the incoming coach demands minimum NIL?
