His game reminds me of Cousins. Imagine being the guy who is beating and banging down low with him. Then he subs out and you see Somto coming in...scary.
Talks about how Cal told him to watch how we use Tre and he heard Kentucky had a history of limiting their bigs but good for him to see that's not the case (now at least).
Cousins never had those hops
Mentioned Edgecombe and Richmond as two of the primary guys he's recruiting to UK for 2024 and Knox seemingly to a lesser degree. Specifically mentioned Cayden Boozer for 2025 since he's a pass first point guard.

Later asked if he could only pick 1 player to play with in the 2024 or 2025 class to play with, who would it be? He picked Cayden Boozer. Says he's unselfish and plays the game the right way (a la Reed?).
Sounds like Randle when he talked about wanting to play with Andrew Harrison.
Sad that there's still negative recruiting going around, especially something that I'm not sure how true it really is.
For starters, I'm pretty sure Cal has more bigs in the NBA than any other coach right now. And not just sure-fire recruits either. He has Nick Richards, PJ Washington, Isaiah Jackson. He unlocked Oscar who just got called up to the league, a guy who was never going to even make it to a euro league if not for Cal.
And for some of the others that didn't pan out, it was sometimes a question of filling a hole in the roster, like Skal playing Center, who maybe would have been better at PF (Or maybe not, because he had plenty of holes in his game). Not to mention highly talented teams with one ball to go around. So is Cal really limiting his bigs?

This year is amazing because all 5 guys can dribble, pass, and SHOOT at a crazy clip.
Next year, it's obvious we won't have Reed or Dilly like expected.
Richmond can't really shoot from what I understand, obviously Quaintance isn't like Tre Mitchell or even Aaron Bradshaw, Somto can't, I don't expect Travis Perry to crack the rotation really as a freshman, Boogie Fland is a decent shooter but I don't think he's as talented as any of our 4 guards this year.
Where does the shooting come from? The spacing?
Cal would need to hit the portal HARD to get some knockdown guys in there.
If things continue, this could go down at the best shooting team in Kentucky history. A fall off is inevitable for shooting and we could be looking at a 2 big man grind out Calipari special kind of team. It’s absolutely cause for concern, but we’re ROLLING in recruiting right now, so my confidence is way up in that we have the ability to have specific needs addressed with the best players available to address those needs. I have reservations about Fland’s physical profile if he is out top guard next year. At the end of the day all I can do is watch it play out. But it would be awful disappointing to see Cal going away from what we have going. This is something you try to recreate, especially when NIL gives you so much leverage to shop for fit and build a roster to your vision.
That’s why I don’t get us not offering Jahlil Bathea. Biggest head scratcher i’ve seen in a while.

Depends, we will have a more traditional post lineup but we also have never used the shooters we did have like this year. Maybe the different style of play will help guys like Fland shoot better. Dilly wasn’t known as a knockdown shooter. Fingers crossed that Sheppard returns. He would be an AA candidate for sure.
Well for one, I'm not your buddy. And Idk why that personally offends you so much, sorry to say, but Somto is still pretty raw. He's uber talented, but we're not going to be starting Quaintance and Somto side by side.
Sorry if that offends you for some reason but it would make zero sense to start both of those guys together, and Quaintance is MILES better than Somto. Somto is a 4 star ranked 68th nationally, and neither guy can really stretch the floor or not clog up the paint. If he is starting, we are in trouble.
It’s not impossible that he will. I’d say Jaden will probably get the nod at the 4 or 5, after this year I dunno if we will place both big men in at the same time especially since Somto is the lesser of the 2 when it comes to versatility scoring the ball.
