Purdue job is coming open. From a “fit” perspective, this is probably the best hope we have, short of Iowa unexpectedly opening up. He can go up there about $6 mil/year and play his preferred style in the cold while aiming toward 6-7 win seasons and they’ll be relatively fine with it. Come on down, Purdue, we’ve found your man.

Would you want to live in W. Lafayette?

Of course not, but I’m also not from Youngstown, Ohio. Stoops just seems like the kind of guy that would fit in there and be well-received.
Like I’ve said numerous times. There are P4 schools where he would be a decent fit. Doesn’t mean he’d succeed, but there are programs that would conceivably give him another chance at a fresh start.

He isnt gonna take a 3 million dollar a year pay cut. No one on here would take that big a percentage pay cut at their current profession either IMO.

Two things:

1) Once you reach a certain level of pay, the numbers stop making sense. To us a $3 million is unfathomable. To someone who has earned $50+ million, that’s not as big of a cut as it seems

2) Quality of life is worth a lot. $3 million (once you have mid-7 figures in the bank) may be a reasonable price for not hating your job and the people you work with.

I agree he probably won’t just up and leave for a pay cut without something else being involved, but there other factors to consider.

He’s not taking the Purdue job lol and to be frank what you just said about what Purdue would be happy with was true if Kentucky when we hired him lol

Stoops isn't going to Purdue.

But I watched their game last night, and if they aren't the worst team in P4 football, I would sure hate to see the team that is. They are Joker's last season bad, or maybe even worse.

You saying they are worse than Kentucky ??? Wow they must stink to the high heavens

They may be worse than the worst Kentucky team I have ever seen.

Of course, I bet under 56.5 last night, sort of thinking that if Purdue got shut out, they could hold Indiana to no more than eight freaking touchdowns. But I was wrong

Stoops isn't Cal he's never won anything. No one is bailing Barnhart out on this contract. We have to bite the bullet. The sooner the better.
Stoops NOT being Cal is all the more reason for him to take a pay cut to go somewhere else. Why would Cal, a HOF coach with an NC and multiple Final 4’s be inclined to take a 30% pay cut to get out of Dodge?

Because Mitch wouldn't let Cal hire Brad and Arkansas was ok with Brad. Cal has plenty of money. He's trying to push Brad into a better position.
