I believe that mutual funds should NOT be allowed to vote their shares. Too many opportunities for conflict of interest, imo. If XYZ fund has a bigger stake in Apple than Samsung, wouldn't it behoove the fund to subtly hurt Samsung so that Apple would reap the benefits and the fund would prosper, also? What Abbott is suing about is also an issue: Blackrock execs LOVE them some DEI and climate change/Green New Deal. How does that help Exxon and Chevron and coal companies and mining companies? Blackrock is NOT voting those shares (or, at least, have the opportunity to NOT vote those shares) to promote those companies' core business but have ulterior motives, which could harm individual shareholders. Does owning more of a particular company's stock mean a seat on the BOD?
