If we’re going to have a federal tax system in the US, we need a functioning IRS.
Hopefully DOGE can modernize their computer systems and eliminate some of the bullshit.
IRS has made great strides within the past year getting functional online access set up for taxpayers. If they can freeze out the lobbyists like intuit, no reason most people should be able to file their return by going to the IRS website and clicking approve.

You NEVER commented on the size of the debt until Trump became President. Also, I corrected your misstatement on Clinton because you're uninformed. Under the approved plan, the city will defer principal payments for the first 19 years, making only interest payments during this period. This backloaded repayment schedule means that the total cost to taxpayers is projected to reach approximately $2 billion by the time the debt is fully repaid.
This is a terrible deal for Chicago taxpayers. Kicking the can down the road like that, with no payments for two years and then interest-only for nearly two decades, is just setting up future administrations—and Chicago residents—for a financial disaster. The city already has a mountain of debt, and this just adds to it without addressing the underlying issues.
It’s the same reckless spending mentality that got Chicago into trouble in the first place. Instead of reforming pensions, cutting waste, or prioritizing essential services, they keep borrowing and pushing the bill further down the line. Meanwhile, the residents who actually pay taxes get stuck with higher costs and fewer services.
