Evidently, the consistently bad weather this spring, has taken the toll on our pitching staff. As good as we were predicted to be pitching-wise , either we were grossly overrated, or the cold ,bad weather has disrupted any rhythm , or development in our pitchers. Disappointing!

I broke it down a bit, but the strange thing is that really aren't pitching badly as much as it is that when we make mistakes we get killed. For instance, we've walked 114 pitchers before today's game. That puts us at 7th fewest walks in the SEC. That is pretty decent. So, it really isn't a matter of not having the control. Instead, it is that we give up hits and the worst part is that when we give up hits they are big ones. 34 home runs is tied for the most in the SEC with Tennessee, and we've given up the second or third most doubles. Now, the bad part is that most of the hits that we give up occur when we are ahead in the count. Today 5 or 6 hits by Haake were given up on 0-2 counts. That is very bad given that you have at least 2 pitches to waste. So, really we just need to start to work the corners more and stop grooving pitches.
